My kiddo stopped talking as a result of the trauma he suffered. He communicated by barking. For months I didn't understand why. Until a stranger asked him. He barked because everyone likes dogs, so he thought if he acted like a dog...the staff would like him. #RemoveTheRoom

He targeted them in his classes and at lunch, as well as badminton and football clubs he ran within the school. bbc.com/news/articles/cm1wv8…

Finding out about this in the news rather than from my kids school's is really not how these types of things should be communicated. Neither of my children's schools have communicated anything about this.
⁉️BREAKING: 'Security threats' at schools across Northern Ireland following an email signed "Allahu Akbar" and referring to "Sharia law" 🎤 Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 speaks to Education Minister @paulgivan about this developing story. It comes as a number of schools have been evacuated or closed after receiving an email claiming that "an explosive device" was located in their buildings. The Minister says the threats appear to be "not viable" and that a process is now underway to assess the situation. He also has a message for parents who are understandably concerned this morning. Around 160 schools across Northern Ireland received the email. The PSNI is now investigating.

And despite alllllllll the evidence, we decided to copy and paste this over here.
14 years of education reform and what have we got? A fragmented, marketised system, SEND provision in crisis, rising home education (not always by choice), nearly 1m young people NEET and declining PISA science scores. Perhaps the trad movement should examine its own legacy?

No matter what your political views, this is not good governance. Children and young people in NI deserve so much better from their Minister.

One whole year has passed since this initial tweet. Still no report... which was supposed to be released "soon"
I’ve uncovered a number of issues during recent school visits. Sensory rooms are vital for children with special educational needs, yet too often in mainstream schools they’re inadequate. Our schools need help to put this right. I’ll be publishing my fact finding outcomes soon.

This is a scandal which has not received anything like the attention it warrants. Deeply disturbing.

Public inquiry time... please
🚨 NEW 🚨 Education Authority chief says typo prevented email from landing after finally admitting department requested £30k for football team MLA accuses Education Minister of trying to ‘invent a mechanism’ to hand money to Richhill AFC The head of the Education Authority (EA) has provided a belated explanation about the proposed allocation of £30,000 to a football team, claiming that an email from the Department of Education was “never received” due to a typo. It comes as Education Minister Paul Givan has been accused of trying to “invent a mechanism” to award £30,000 to Co Armagh football team, Richhill AFC. I revealed that Mr Givan wanted the EA to allocate £30,000 to Richhill AFC to cover a shortfall for a pitch estimated to cost £580,000 — a team that already received a grant of £500,000 from the Government. (Comment: The department and EA are attempting to prevent me from doing my job effectively. (No response from the department on this issue since July. It has ignored every query of mines since. This from a department whose Minister recently ordered officials to boycott his scrutiny committee. An order that is believed could be unlawful if he continues to uphold it. (EA with a one-line response to this back in July and no admission until now. (FoIs facing obstruction. I'd love to know if the department treats any other journalist with such contempt. Is it because of what I have exposed in the past 2 years? (Full story available online. Along with other stories in this investigation).

This is a scandal. We need a public inquiry into our education system.

This is an absolutely vile attempt at an analogy... #RemoveTheRoom
Mothers- if they won't let anyone see the isolation booth it's probably due to having something to hide. Parents- if they isolate, punish, humiliate your child daily, that is child abuse. Behaviour management it is not! Repetitive punishment serves nobody but a sadist.

362 days. Still no report. These unstandardised spaces exist throughout our education system. Praised for their inclusivity... yet for my 6 year old disabled son, a "sensory space" became nothing more than a 6ft by 4ft empty jail cell that I did not know, or consent to be used.

Will kids be put into detention/isolation for wearing additional items of clothing in school to keep warm? They were instructed by the EA to do so. But will they face reprecussions as a result of rigid uniform policies set by individual schools if they attempt to keep warm?
Replying to @paulgivan
@paulgivan @Education_NI will you be issuing directions under Art. 101 to safeguard students so that they will not be sanctioned as per their school's rigid uniform policies for wearing additional items to keep warm as they were instructed to do so by @Ed_Authority
