Mi'kma'ki (Nova Scotia) has free publicly accessible LIDAR dataset nsgi.novascotia.ca/datalocat… I have fieldchecked over 200 sites trying to stave off destruction of trail trees by deforestry/mining. What I continue to learn and rediscover is mindblowing. Documented @iNaturalist

Following trail trees in Mi'kma'ki for the past year I am now identifying culturally significant monumental mounds that appear to originate as a technology. They are highly magnetic and are associated with engineered channels and reservoirs. I am an engineer and an archaeologist.

Interesting but already dated. Fieldwork underway way in Mi'kma'ki (Nova Scotia) indicates monumental mound building with sunken reservoirs was initially done for technological reasons. LIDAR shows distribution of the mounds nsgi.novascotia.ca/datalocat… @iNaturalist has observations

Yes, evidence abounds that L'nuk elders were actively remapping sacred landscapes with trail trees up until almost the turn of the century here in Mi'kma'ki. 💔Respect💔 ⁦@Netukulimk⁩ ⁦@Mel7Labrador⁩ ⁦@inaturalist⁩ ⁦@RememberTata⁩ inaturalist.ca/projects/1282…
