The #Cubs decision to mostly forge velocity for the last ~6 seasons is a complex weakness to correct in a single offseason.
Here's a small rant on models, decision-making, and being uncomfortable, the latter of which the Cubs will need to become.
You overpay aces not only because they are good in their current level of stuff, but also because when their stuff inevitably gets worse as they age, they still have options to be good with mix changes etc. (see Rodon, Cole, etc.)

Sad to announce that Steven “Fats” Diano has passed. Fats was fighting cancer for a long time. He is one of the sharpest guys I’ve ever known and his dry sense of humor was second to none.
