Why did the Grassland Bird Trust bow out of Fort Edward Solar and take a big ole check from Boralex to look the other way while it plans to install solar panels on one of the last grasslands of its kind throughout the Northeast?
Below, I give you your answer.
Our state has very craftily created a system, through the @NYSDEC, where it financially rewards "environmental" nonprofits that prioritize climate resiliency.
In other words, if you get in line and look the other way while the state destroys forests, wetlands, and grasslands for solar and wind, the DEC will reward you with money for your obedience.
Every group on this list lives up to the obedience requirements set forth by our governor and DEC commissioner.
And boy, it's been quite the financially rewarding year for the Grassland Bird Trust! Turns out there's a lot of money to be made by allowing Canadian corporations to fragment the very habitat you swore to protect.
The Grassland Bird Trust took intervenor (ORES) funds, settlement money from the Canadian developer, and now also money from the DEC: $30,295.
It's right in front of our faces. Every one of these groups should be investigated for taking money to do the opposite of protecting the environment.
And along the way, the DEC needs to be gutted.

American elementary schools no longer teach ancient history. Students are introduced to the Native Americans & early American history with a heavy focus on slavery.

If you’ve been following along with me on here, you know that fires occur at solar complexes weekly across New York State.
Not yearly. Weekly.
When one happened this past summer in a few towns over from mine, the fire department was not allowed inside the complex until a “solar rep” arrived.
The firemen had to wait 2 hours to enter the complex.
And they want to build these monstrosities next to our schools.
Since solar complexes are never “off” once they start generating power, the firemen risk being electrocuted when entering the complex.
Even better… for massive ORES solar complexes, the foreign corporations negotiate PILOTs (Payments in lieu of of taxes) with the local IDAs.
I’ve spoken to firemen locally who tell me the tax revenue they used to receive from that land is removed from their tax roll.
This is a violent attack on our rural way of life… and our safety.

In George Washington’s farewell address, he warned the American people against what he called:
“Pretended Patriotism.”
He went to say that republics were specifically vulnerable to foreign influence, and that corrupt politicians, and foreign agents would weaponize this “pretended patriotism” against good Americans to trick them into supporting foreign entanglements.

George Washington, in his farewell address, said that of all the habits that lead to a nation’s prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.

Now the truth finally comes out that the state of New York wants the Amish people‘s properties and land so they can build their data centers. How disgusting 🤮
 The Amish of Central New York told the seditious Governor Kathy Hochul they would pack up, abandon their farms and leave if the Governor tried forcing vaccines on their children. The Governor fined them over $100,000 and demanded they comply anyway.
When the Amish decided to fight back, taking the wicked Governor to court, Hochul's minion Senator Fahy drew up even more legislation to pressure them to leave, attacking their children again, this time through an anti-homeschooling bill.
Tens of thousands of acres of cleared Amish farmland are at stake. The Amish have spent decades clearing their land by hand and horse. The hard work has been done.
But if the Governor has her way, the Amish will be forced to sell that cleared land to the solar farms and data centers knocking on the doors for it.
Who will help the Amish stand up to this maniacal Governor? We need to expose this on social media and we need to get the right people involved to represent the Amish and help them fight This evil demonic power and control of New York.

Unpopular opinion. The current Congress and WH choosing to "not enforce" the NFA is NOT a win. They didn't repeal anything. A future government will change the tax to a MUCH higher amount, and start enforcing the NFA again. It's a trojan horse.

Sure, but this was always the case even if they did appeal. The ruling was based on there not being a tax. If the tax returns, even to $1, the ruling is no longer applicable and the NFA is valid again. We made a Second Amendment claim as well, but the court didn't reach it.
The value of winning again after an appeal is unrelated to the above; if the tax returns, an appeal win on taxing power grounds even at SCOTUS is worthless.
Rather, an appeal win may have helped if, e.g., a President Newsom is dealing with a GOP senate (so the tax does not come back) and instead decides to resume enforcement even without the tax in violation of the district court ruling, probably in another part of the country. If we had a Fifth Circuit ruling in our back pocket, it would have put us in a stronger position for that circumstance. Strong persuasive authority and also a pre-arranged circuit split.

Excellent question: that is because wood stays almost completely stable along the grain (in length, not more than 0.01%) but expands greatly against the grain (width and thickness, up to 8.00%). Panelled doors wasn't a pretty extra but a clever solution to doors expanding with moisture and warping or jamming shut. Because wood expands and contracts in relation to the ambient air humidity (and also rain etc. if outdoors), the wood panels (not nailed or glued) could move freely inside the groves of the frame. This allowed tight doors that shut very close to the door frame, often mere millimeters or fractions of an inch, giving us ncreased privacy and better acoustics.

When the NRA was collapsing, there was this sentiment in the gun rights community that it was fine because the other orgs would quickly fill the gap.
That has been true as to *litigation.* Hell, I'd argue that on that front, our movement is better than ever.
But on campaign spending, no one ever did (or could) replace the NRA. It's not easy to replace that organization, experience, and institutional knowledge. Donors who gave to the NRA for campaign purposes didn't just move their money to another gun org. In part because they had no reason to trust any other org; none had done that kind of thing before, at least not at the NRA's scale. So they just spent that money elsewhere.
(Donations for litigation purposes went differently I think because that experience and trust IS there. SAF for example had litigated for half a century.)
It took decades to build what NRA had. By contrast, the other side just gets Michael Bloomberg and a couple of his friends to write big checks. It was reckless to just assume it'd be easily replaced and cheer on NRA's demise, as many did. Glad they are recovering now but it will take time..
