BREAKING: HELL YES! Texas gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa sues Greg Abbott to obtain the "embarrassing" and "intimate" emails sent between his office and Elon Musk's minions.
We cannot wait to read these in full...
"Nobody here is accusing Greg Abbott of having a torrid love affair with Elon Musk,” Rep. Hinojosa said. "What this is about is we have the world’s only trillionaire getting massive tax breaks from this governor after giving him over $500,000 in campaign contributions."
The lawsuit seeks to obtain over a thousand pages of communication which — given what we know about Musk's underhanded methods and blatant favor-buying through donations — could be extremely damaging to Abbott and the Republican Party's already-toxic brand.
Numerous Musk companies are based in Texas, including SpaceX, Starlink, Tesla, X, and xAI. He donated $500,000 to Abbott's campaign and $250,000 to Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows. At the same time, Musk has received billions in tax incentives and tens of millions in grants. From the outside looking in, it certainly looks like quid pro quo.
If there's nothing untoward in these emails, why won't Abbott just release them?
The Texas Newsroom filed a public records request to obtain the documents in 2025, but Abbott's office objected to the release and remarkably corrupt Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sustained the objections, with an order to release some of the materials. They were heavily redacted.
“The people of Texas and the people of House District 49 are concerned over the growing power of tech giants in Texas regarding our tax dollars, resources, and data,” Hinojosa wrote in a letter to Abbott in September, asking to review the redacted information. “In light of the expanding influence of tech CEOs in Texas and the close working relationship between government and the corporate tech industry, transparency is essential for accountability, which is why I’m writing.”
In her new lawsuit, Hinojosa revealed that Abbott rejected her request. Now, she's escalating the fight.

Let me point out for Republicans and MAGA that are attacking Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, Michigan U.S. Senate candidate, for being Muslim. Dr. Mehmet Oz who serves in Trump’s administration as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS,) is Muslim also. What’s the difference here? 🤔 Both are Muslim, well-educated physicians. The difference is one is Republican and the other is a Democrat. It goes to show how racist, bigoted, judgmental, shallow minded and hypocritical Republicans really are. 🚨 BREAKING: Gina Hinojosa is suing Greg Abbott for violating public records law to hide his emails with Elon Musk.
Ken Paxton as AG redacted all but 200 of 1,374 pages after Abbott argued the conversations between him and Musk are "intimate and embarrassing."
Hinojosa alleges the emails might cover tax incentives for Musk's companies, data center development, broadband deals, and more.
She's asking the court to force Abbott to unredact the remaining 1,174 pages.
