The barrier to building something online isn't talent. or timing. or competition... It's the willingness to start and keep iterating even when nothing is working yet.
Most people never clear that bar.
Which means the actual competition is a fraction of what you think it is
Want to build an app business but have no idea where to start?
here's everything i wish someone told me (thread 🧵)
Done is better than perfect
a real ugly thing in the world beats a perfect idea in your head every time
ship it. fix it. repeat.
Your first 100 users won't come from an app store
they'll come from dms, posts, communities, and word of mouth
go find them manually. do the unglamorous work.
Getting scammed by a contractor accidentally gave me an app idea.
So I built an app that helps homeowners plan projects, renovate their homes, and find trusted contractors — all from their phone.
Building something from scratch sounds romantic until you realize “from scratch” includes mistakes, confusion, and a lot of pretending you know what you’re doing.

This gave me peace of mind, tnx @nalinrajput23
Why is it that after doing something mentally exhausting your brain suddenly forgets how to do basic things
Like you’ll solve a complicated problem then stand in front of a microwave fighting for your life

The 2-4 hours you spend scrolling each day (or 730-1460 hours each year) is more than enough time to write a book, build a business, or get in shape. In the moment, it seems like nothing. That's why it's so dangerous. Your time disappears without you being conscious of it.
Nobody talks about how hard it is to market something when you genuinely hate being annoying online.
