As referees, all we can control is our own preparation.
Ensure you are fit and mobile enough to move around the pitch and give yourself the best possible opportunity to make the correct decision.
Keep up to date with the LOTG and listen to those who offer advice ⚽️🏟
United/City offside is damning. Donohue/Antrobus fucked up. It’s the highest of high-profile errors. You’d hope, with more than 1 pair of eyes, you’d pick up what the world could see. It’s horrible for them. They’ll know. They’ll feel terrible. It’ll cost them more than we know.
Was Enzo not in an offside position?
Interfering with an opponent by:
Law states: clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or
making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball
Spent 40 mins on the bike listening to Talksport. Not something I would usually choose to listen to this morning. I really wonder how this show goes on. The pundits are uninspiring. The phone-ins are delirious. What’s the appeal? Mind-numbingly painful.
😬😬😬
This isn’t a good for the officials.
Human error to blame. The process for recording hasn’t worked here.
I believe, the first time this has happened?
Could we expect a replay?
Two ways I have discovered to annoy people on here.
One, tell them step 7 isn’t a thing.
Two, tell them referees play mini-games during 90 minutes.
Neither are advised.
Any ideas what’s wrong with this?
Straight from the kick-off 💥
Have you ever seen a finish like this one from @AFCWhyteleafe's Ade Cole?
I guarantee you, most referees have played games during a game before. Often, it’s to keep the mind occupied, which might sound silly, but I’m sure he was doing this late in the game when the pressure is off.
What’s the best game you’ve played?
This is when officials teamwork really shows. Paws knows it’s a foul, takes his time and communicates with his AR to see if it’s in or out the 18 and follows that up with ‘is it a genuine attempt for the ball’. Key question, as it changes the colour of the card.
Man Utd have awarded a penalty with Matheus Cunha xitter.cf/EvansAllis45187/status…
Don’t let anyone fool you into thinking there is a referee shortage.
Perhaps local grassroots leagues may have a shortage. The pyramid does not. 99% of games are covered as officials are given ‘development’ opportunities.
The FA doesn’t care about your local leagues.
Why have people started calling almost every artificial pitch, 4G? Do we not know the difference between 3 and 4G?
Whilst 4G is a ‘thing’ all rubber crumb pitches are 3G.
Argue amongst yourselves with your step 8, 4G pitch.
Tomorrow.
MD1.
Good luck to everyone starting tomorrow. Well done for those who have already kicked off.
Anyone else get incredibly frustrated when they read step 7/8?
The pyramid stops at step 6. Step 7 was abolished at the start of this decade and there has never been step 8.
Step 7 is a feeder league. Call it that.
Labelling something to make yourself feel better. Please stop.
The seasons fast approaching and I forgot to continue pulling back the curtain on some of the things that irritate the spectator! Therefore, quick post on…
Soft fouls
Simulation
Throw-ins!
Really boring stuff…
Alright throw-in location.
We all hate to see throw-ins being taken 10 yards further forward. It’s become part of the game and some officials are hot on it. Others are more lenient. I think there should be some leniency and room for scope.
