@homeoffice_ukvi @DanielZeichner @JesusCollegeCam I am devastated by the news that my tourist visa to attend my PhD graduation @Cambridge_Uni has been rejected. I am the first in my family to achieve this milestone, and being denied after 5 years of study feels incredibly unjust.

The rejection stated that I am unlikely to leave the UK after being granted entry, when my whole family and my fiance do not even live there. If I wanted to remain, I could have done that via the graduate visa route-- but I didn't.

Kilicdaroglu new campaign slogan: "Syrians will go"
Dear Turkish people. If we weren't chased by a mass murderer killing our children, raping our women, bombing our houses, gassing/Slaughtering /torturing /terrorizing/ taking our lands many of us would have stayed in our home.

Hi twitter folk. Something absolutely & genuinely mind-boggling happened. My Master's dissertation somehow won the Review of English Studies Essay Prize...! It's called 'A "Polyphonic Score": Basil Bunting's Persian Condensations' & you can read it here: academic.oup.com/res/advance…
It’s truly remarkable to me how easily and seemingly effortlessly a Persian bait (…or four) can adhere to one’s mind. The music and meter of the verse is something to marvel at.
Someone needs to pinch me bc my poem was published alongside @PhilipMetres, @pjoris, and so much non-tweeting poetic and critical literary talent 🥹
Now out, with contributions from Macherey, Balso, Lecercle, Beck, Montag, Apter, @banananongrata, @danieljhartley, JC Milner, North, K.S. Robinson
and poems from @ReemAbbas @PhilipMetres @pjoris
I’m so excited!! Come along & start your weekend with us 🫶🏽
