Be a volunteer zombie for a haunted hayride in the woods. Growl “brains!!” at the passing tractors. Gutturally moan in an increasingly fading voice, “Come back, come baaaaaaack…” Ask if they’ve seen “Barbara.” Though, sadly, that last one went over many foolish mortals’ heads.

Halloween Ends writer Paul Brad Logan on the writing process in his interview for “Horror in Haddonfield”: “I think David had ideas from the get go.The way that Halloween Kills was going to be done and then the idea of the third one with Laurie in a different place. We wanted it to be an organic experience. David's so fun to work with. I wish everybody could work with him because writing stuff with him is like a creative playground. Meeting together and brainstorming all of these ideas for what this movie could be was like a three week writers workshop where we just came up with every insane version of this story. Just to see what was going to grab us and what was going to make us have a reason for telling the story. If you're just going to make a movie just to make a movie, it's pointless and people can see through that. Or at least I can and I don't wanna be a part of that. I want to do something I feel good about. I remember once we were brainstorming and David was like “Hey Paul, why don't you go back to your room tonight and write Halloween Ends as if it were Gummo”. So like I did. I only cranked out like 40 or 50 pages, but it was like my version of maybe what Harmony would have done in ‘96 as a follow up to Gummo. It sort of unlocked all these creative ideas and really gets everything moving. It all began with that opening scene, the babysitting scene. Once that happened, then we knew what story we wanted to tell and we got very excited. Then the process moved pretty quickly once we had that first scene. That was sort of our key to unlocking what we wanted the story to be.” Horror in Haddonfield is now available on Amazon: a.co/d/076Bvv6s

Jefferson Hall spoke to me about filming this scene in his interview for “Horror in Haddonfield”. Here’s an excerpt from that interview: “There are times as an actor where you go into a job and you're like, yeah, just imagine it's like that. And you're like, this set's kind of shitty. But this was like, holy fuck. We went through all the iron bars. We went to a penitentiary to film the walkthrough through the iron bars and stuff. There was a wire fence with all the inmates and stuff. So we were already on edge. We had to go through all those cages, which really primed you. But walking out into that square and seeing Michael with his back turned. It couldn't have been easier to sort of get into it. It's so intense and it was a great start. I think we started with that as far as the structure of the shoot was concerned. That was our first thing we did, if I remember correctly. You really felt in that moment, that spacial thing you talked about, but you felt that as the character, standing there, you're like, I'm so fucking vulnerable right now. This is crazy. What am I doing? It's like those guys with the chicken carcasses on a grabby stick and hanging it over a crocodile's fence. It's like doing that without the fence. It's like - how much do you want to have a successful podcast?” Horror in Haddonfield is now available on Amazon: a.co/d/0fTV7R6m
