At @Ireland2026eu Conference on the #OceanAct, I underlined a simple truth: Europe’s future is inseparable from the ocean. 🌊
The #EUOceanPact set a cohesive direction for ocean policy. Now, with the #OceanAct, we are working to turn that vision into a coherent framework for stronger ocean governance, improved marine knowledge, and better coordination across policies.
A huge thank you to the Irish Presidency for steering this vital dialogue—helping us craft the #EUOceanAct for a thriving ocean, resilient communities, and a healthier planet.

At 27, with EU support and a second-hand vessel, Richard is building an independent small-scale fishing business in Réunion.

Thank you, @Ireland2026eu for opening your presidency with the EU Ocean Act Conference.
The Ocean Act is where ambition meets implementation. By strengthening integrated ocean governance, Europe can lead by example, build partnerships, and turn global commitments into action.

The ocean has no borders. Neither should our ambition to explore and protect it.
At the IOC Executive Committee today, I presented the International Alliance for @GOOSocean. The EU is proposing a new way for ocean observation - we're calling on like-minded partners to join us.

I congratulated the Kenyan government on the successful organisation of this excellent edition of @OurOceanOOC. It set a very high standard.
We also exchanged views on how to sustain the ocean and develop the blue economy through mutually beneficial partnership. From implementing the #BBNJ Agreement to joining the #OceanEye International Alliance for global ocean observation, Kenya’s leadership and investment in the ocean's future is key. I look forward to further deepening our cooperation.
