Willie D wants people to trust him with money in the Nolan Wells case.
So donors should probably know who they’re trusting.
This is the SAME Willie D - William James Dennis of the Geto Boys - who pleaded guilty in federal court to wire fraud after prosecutors said he took money from people for electronics that were never delivered.
According to the FBI, 29 victims had been defrauded of roughly $132,000 by the time of his plea. A later DOJ release put the total losses at more than $194,000 involving 35 victims.
And now this is the man, who has pointed the finger at innocent people, has organizing the Nolan Wells reward fundraiser that people are currently donating to.
The fundraiser explains what the money is supposed to be used for, but it does NOT clearly tell donors who ultimately controls the funds, where the money is being held, how much can be spent on “administrative” costs, or exactly where the leftover money goes.
If no reward is paid, donors can request their proportional share back within a limited window. Whatever remains after that is supposed to go toward broadly described “social-justice initiatives.” Pretty sure these people can define ANYTHING as a “Social Justice Initiative”.
So Willie D can continue pointing fingers at innocent people while collecting tens of thousands of dollars around the same case, and donors are apparently just supposed to trust that whatever money is left over will go somewhere worthy.
To me, this looks like yet another grift built around Nolan Wells’ death.
Just show up while they are setting up the Pensacola Fair this month and you could double those numbers.
