Good evening, minions. 🧛♂️
The Masque of the Red Death (1964)
Roger Corman directed it. Vincent Price plays Prince Prospero, who shuts the gates against the plague and opens them only for the guests who can still afford to dance. Hazel Court and Jane Asher attend the last party. Nicolas Roeg lights the coloured rooms.
The Red Death does not knock. It arrives in the costume of a guest and waits until the masque has done the rest of the work. Price conducts the evening as if the walls will hold. They do not. Poe supplied the sentence. Corman filmed the delay.
