Cylan McLeod is set to become one of South Carolina's most dynamic playmakers next season. The 6'1 guard is coming off a junior year at Westwood High School that ended with a 5AD2 state championship and a 25-3 record, and he enters this season with an expanded role after Division II commits D'Marcus Thomas and Jayden Crews moved on to the next level. Offensively, McLeod is a walking paint touch. His first step is elite, he is the fastest player on the floor in most games he plays, and he uses that speed to collapse defenses and either finish craftily at the rim or find open teammates with a natural feel for the game. He pairs that downhill ability with a smooth left-handed jumper, comfortable pulling from three or creating separation for a mid-range pull-up, giving him a scoring package that works at every level of the floor. Defensively, McLeod does not take plays off. He gives up some size on the perimeter, but his length and timing allow him to disrupt passing lanes and break down opposing ball handlers, and his lateral quickness lets him stay in front of most guards he faces. That combination of quick feet and instincts makes him disruptive on that end even against bigger competition.
