#JAILED | This is Daniel Scott Ingram. Yesterday he was jailed for 23 years for non-recent sex offences after being found guilty of 13 counts of rape and six counts of sexual assault. Ingram committed his offences against a girl between 2000 and 2014. As well as 23 years in prison, 38-year-old Ingram, of Beckwith Street, Birkenhead was issued with a further seven years on extended licence, a lifetime restraining order, an indefinite Sex Offender Notification order and ordered to pay a victim's surcharge and collection order. You can read an extract of the woman's Victim Person Statement here 🗣️ “It’s extremely difficult to put into words how this has all impacted me because 99% of the time I try to put it in a box in the back of my mind and pretend it wasn’t me. Denial has been my automatic response for so long because facing the reality was just too hard. I hoped that if I buried my thoughts deep enough, they’d go away but what you did to me is unfortunately never far away. “You were a monster. You groomed me. You manipulated me. You exploited my trust and preyed on my innocence and vulnerability to make me into the perfect play thing that you could manipulate as you pleased. You stole my innocence from me. “I’ve come to realise that there’s no escape from your own mind and I’m emotionally exhausted being forever on my guard, not being able to allow myself to enjoy things for fear that something might happen. Even those moments that are meant to fill you with joy, mine are mostly filled with fear. You have not only taken away my childhood, but you also continue to take away parts of my adult life. “This is the first step of my healing because I have faced you and made people aware of what kind of monster you are.” Ingram thought he could get away with it, deny what happened and force the victim to go through the ordeal of a trial. Thankfully, a jury saw through his lies and he will now serve a lengthy prison sentence for his deprived actions. We sincerely hope that his sentencing can bring some comfort to the woman who is still living with the trauma to this day. With these types of investigations, our specialist team is here to support victims with sensitivity and compassion, every step of the way, from the initial report through to court proceedings. My boss deducted $1,800 from my salary because I refused to attend a work dinner on my wedding anniversary. I didn’t argue. I didn’t beg. I simply asked payroll to send me the written policy authorizing the deduction. By Monday morning, HR had scheduled an emergency meeting. But let me start from the beginning. I’d worked at the company for four years as a senior account manager. I managed twelve major clients and had recently secured a contract worth $3.6 million. My boss, Victor, loved calling me his most reliable employee. What he meant was that I was the employee he could call at midnight, on weekends, and even while I was on leave. For years, I accepted it because I wanted to grow in my career. Then I got married. My husband booked a restaurant for our first wedding anniversary. We’d planned the evening for weeks because both of us worked demanding jobs. At 3 PM that Friday, Victor walked into my office. “There’s a dinner with the investors tonight. I need you there.” I explained that I had a prior commitment. He frowned. “What commitment could be more important than a meeting that could change your career?” “My wedding anniversary.” He stared at me as if I’d insulted him. “You can celebrate tomorrow.” “I’d rather keep the plans we’ve already made.” His expression changed. “Be careful. People who want to move up make sacrifices.” I told him I’d already completed my presentation and sent the relevant client reports. He walked away without responding. At 6 PM, I left the office. My husband and I had barely finished our meal when my phone started buzzing. Victor had sent me an email. Your absence from tonight’s strategic dinner will be reflected in your performance assessment. I put my phone away. The next week, my salary arrived $1,800 short. I checked the payslip. Under deductions, it said: Executive Event Non-Attendance - $1,800. I read it three times. Then I emailed payroll. They replied that the deduction had been authorized by Victor. I forwarded the response to HR and asked for the policy supporting it. Two hours later, Victor stormed into my office. “Why are you involving HR over a simple management decision?” I looked him in the eye. “Because you took $1,800 from my salary for having dinner with my husband.” He lowered his voice. “You have no idea how easily I can make things difficult for you here.” I smiled. “Then let’s make sure everything is documented.” He walked out. The following Monday, I received a meeting invitation titled: Formal Review of Employee Conduct. I accepted. And I came prepared.
