Your interests not being clean & sterile enough for the Nerdcore, Funko Pop, Fortnite Collab pipeline doesn't mean it's any "lesser." Stop craving for the mainstream & you'll be free.

VNs have never catered to "normal people". I hate to say it this way, but it's exactly why people hate when "normies" get into a niche hobby that blows up. They don't get it and don't try to understand it either. There's nothing wrong making a medium for a niche set of fans.
