In the 6th largest economy, millions of Britons rely on food banks. No curbs on profiteering. Energy prices up 44% since 2021-22. Thousands can't afford heating, rely on community ‘warm spaces’. 1% have more wealth than 70% of the population combined. theguardian.com/business/202…

To break impasse in David Lammy refusing to meet representatives of the hunger strikers I’ve proposed he appoint a mediator to commence discussions with the hunger strikers’ representatives. For those of us around in early 1980s hunger strikes tragically we know how this could go

I joined Unite members at Heathrow today who are campaigning against the low pay being inflicted on them as a result of British Airways outsourcing their to exploitative companies like OCS, which makes huge profits at the expense of their workers. ⁦@unitetheunion⁩

Today, I met constituents lobbying for wide-ranging sanctions on Israel and an end to military cooperation & arms sales. There is no one issue that constituents have written to me about more than the Gaza genocide. Yet our government refuses to recognise it as such.

The Party needs a strong voice from the left as Deputy Leader. Someone who will represent the politics and opinions of the rank and file grassroots members who want to see us govern by real Labour values. @BellRibeiroAddy would be that Deputy Leader.
I am putting myself forward to stand as Deputy Leader of the Labour Party. I look forward to explaining why, over the three short and undemocratic days we have to do so.

Thank you to all parliamentary colleagues that have signed and supported my motion highlighting the potential awarding to Elbit Systems of a UK military contract. It is the UK’s duty to stop genocide, not fund it.
This can’t be allowed to happen, we can’t award a £2 billion contract to an Israeli arms company in the middle of this genocide, mass starvation and ethnic cleansing. Not just morally, but legally. We’re obliged to do what we can to prevent Genocide when we see it happening - not support it. Belgium made that point this week and began their own program of actual trade sanctions against the criminal regime of ‘Bibi the Butcher’ aka Netanyahu. edm.parliament.uk/early-day-…
