This is great news! We're grateful that CapMetro is so quick at getting restarted after such a major setback.
CapMetro is resuming Bikeshare service in phases beginning August 11, with nearly one-third of the fleet available for riding by August 18.
We will continue expanding service as we acquire the necessary parts and materials to restore Bikeshare operations to full service by end of 2026.
Annual passholders will automatically receive additional time on the memberships to account for the service suspension.
We know the wait hasn't been easy, and we're grateful for your patience as we worked to safely bring Bikeshare service back.

In 2008, after dropping my boys off at Kealing Junior High, I would often jog along Waller Creek. I was captivated by its beauty and potential, but also reminded of the divide Interstate 35 created between East and West Austin.
The Confluence is years in the making, and an inspiring local example of what is possible with sustained effort uniting philanthropy, government agencies, property owners, designers & builders, and other partners.

Congrats to Waterloo Greenway and City of Austin on the grand opening of The Confluence last weekend! This revitalized section of Waller Creek includes a new, below-street urban trail and restored creek banks, connecting Lady Bird Lake and the Red Line Parkway in downtown Austin.
As this chapter closes, we welcome further public & private investments to make them a reality. We have until 2032 to raise the funding for the Phase II (lids) to stay on timeline. Whatever is not funded by then is still "future-proofed" and can be pursued at a later date.

The caps will increase private investment in Austin by recovering valuable real estate for local use that would otherwise be lost to the international highway lanes below. Today, Mayor Watson has put to rest a reopened debate about the commitment our city had already made.

One year ago this month, the City of Austin committed to an initial $104MM investment in caps and stitches over I-35. The stitches will create welcoming avenues that shield Austinites as they pass over the toxic, heavy-industry impacts of the new 20+ lane urban highway.
