Really interesting read.
We are watching it unfold in front of us and people are still blind.
Regular people used to not trust the mega rich because they understood that getting to such an absurd level of wealth means you basically stole - not in a traditional sense but you took far much than the average person.
I'm all for Capitalism and a free market but there has to be anti monopoly rules for this reason alone.
MIT mathematically proved that AI will destroy the democracy.
A Nobel-winning MIT economist published a terrifying paper called "Automation and Repression"
As AI and automation replace human labor, wealth concentrates heavily in the hands of a tiny group of capital owners. Inequality skyrockets.
When inequality hits a critical mass, workers realize they are being crushed and the threat of a popular revolt spikes.
Faced with that threat, the ruling elite are forced to make a choice.
They can redistribute the wealth through taxes, or they can use force to keep people down.
The paper mathematically proves a dark reality: there is a direct, inescapable link between automation and political repression.
The more capital accumulates through AI, the more the elite prefer repression over redistribution.
Why? Because sharing the wealth cuts into their power. Funding a police state protects it.
It gets worse.
The authors modeled what happens when an economy starts inside a clean, stable democracy.
As automation advances and capital concentrates at the top, the math shows that the elite eventually find democracy to be a liability.
They stop supporting democratic systems. They back a coup. They install a repressive system just to protect their automated wealth.
Nobody is voting to end democracy.
The technology’s economic incentives just make authoritarian control the logical next step for survival.
Trump suggesting the Fed should lower rates is not the type of language the markets want to hear, especially as September 16th approaches and we get a verdict.
Keep the Fed independent!
This type of thinking is dangerous if it becomes tunnel-vision for Trump.. We saw how far it escalated with Powell and how badly the S&P dipped. He appointed Jerome Powell, who in fact was not a yes man and seemed to stay on board intentionally.
Keep the fed independent.

They are basically betting it all on the economic impact of AI and America being #1 in AI dominance. My question is, will the shift occurr effectively without leaving a big portion of the population in dire distress.
It's cool to ignore fundamentals because AI will save the world and get us out of debt... But think about how hard that is to do in practice when the price of most goods will increase, along with the cost to acquire those goods.
Oil is the boogeyman and Trump doesn't care.
$NVDA ripping today.. got SPY on her back, META is doing decent as well after its initial settlement news. GOOG is also up 1%.

Goodbye $PLTR Lol.

So real... It's just that companies behind the scenes have been working towards this moment. It was highly driven by advertisement companies such as Google and the data collection never stopped, AI just made the data into actionable software to regurgitate knowledge for a fee.
So OpenAI is going to IPO while defending itself from the biggest company in the world? I don't see how investors wouldn't worry about Altman's entire bread and butter being severely handicapped by this Apple lawsuit, or at the very least slow them down to irrelevance.
Thoughts?
$AAPL - APPLE ALLEGES OPENAI DEFENDANT USED TRADE SECRETS TO TRAIN AI
Apple alleges a defendant in its trade-secret case against OpenAI accessed a proprietary power-converter circuit schematic while at OpenAI and used confidential Apple information to train an AI agent, according to a legal filing.
Apple says the new evidence came from a MacBook provided by OpenAI on Aug. 21 during legal proceedings.
The company is asking a U.S. federal court to expedite discovery in the case.
