@CrossCountryUK My train was cancelled and the one I am on is like a sardine tin. Because I need a seat, disabled assistance put me in 1st class. Now an inspector is telling me I need to pay an upgrade or move (I’m not sure I can even safely make it through the crowd).

@crosscountryuk If I do move, assistance booked at my destination won’t know where on the train to find me. The inspector was polite, but the interaction has left me very panicky. All I’m asking is some communication between passenger assistance and train staff!

I know this won’t make the top 1000 Uber horror stories, but my driver just picked up a different person and left me stranded in the cold for an hour, and @UberUKI_Support seem to think I should be grateful they refunded the trip I didn’t take. So - thanks for not robbing me?

Like, never mind that your driver broke the law by picking up an unbooked fare, left a disabled woman in a position which caused her intense pain, and wasted hours of her time, at least you didn’t charge her for the privilege. You should be fucking ashamed, @UberUKI_Support

She was good training for the pragmatism of parental love, I suppose. I see the parallels. I get irritable that I couldn’t at least keep God. Plenty of not-clinically-insane people have that, so it doesn’t seem too much to ask. I feel two-dimensional at best.

This is a powerful graphic and I have yet to see anyone from the pro assisted dying camp meaningfully address the issues it raises. They know they can’t promise to stop society punishing disabled people, so they just sort of shrug.

DR UK’s statement on assisted dying Our focus as a society should be to ensure that all citizens live well. This is not the case at present. Disabled people and those with health conditions find ourselves battling to get NHS treatments, receiving inadequate care and support and having limited access to palliative care. The UK Government has been found guilty of ‘grave and systematic’ violations of Disabled people’s rights by the United Nations. This includes an increase in the reliance on institutionalisation, limiting our access to basic necessities, and dehumanising us as 'economic burdens' on society. The COVID-19 pandemic vividly demonstrated the fragility of our rights in the UK as blanket Do Not Attempt Resuscitation notices were used, and our access to critical care was denied. 60% of COVID deaths were those of Disabled people.
