I like! This is a really simple and inexpensive way to significantly reduce the quantum threat to Kaspa users. Traditional addresses expose the public key controlling the funds. A sufficiently powerful quantum computer could derive the private key from that public key and steal the funds. KIP-22 proposes a simple change: instead of exposing the public key, an address commits to a cryptographic hash (a fingerprint) of the spending conditions. The public key stays hidden, and unlike elliptic-curve cryptography, strong cryptographic hashes remain highly resistant to quantum attacks. Only when we spend the funds do we reveal the necessary information for the network to verify the transaction. There is still a theoretical attack vector where an attacker could intercept a spending transaction, derive the private key, and attempt to front-run the original transaction. But since PoW relies on hashing, which is far more resistant to quantum attacks, the network should remain operational and continue confirming transactions, leaving an attacker with only a very narrow window to act. Exploiting this would require not just a quantum computer capable of breaking public-key cryptography, but one powerful enough to do this faster than the network converges. On Kaspa, that means just a few seconds. That's a much stronger "theoretical adversary," and it's unclear whether such a machine will ever exist. Personally, I doubt quantum computers will ever be able to break public-key cryptography at realistic key sizes (I suspect that Hilbert space itself is discrete and has a much coarser resolution than commonly assumed, but that's a different topic). So TL;DR: KIP-22 isn't a "complete" post-quantum solution, but it's an elegant, relatively low-cost way to significantly reduce the attack surface for quantum adversaries.

$KAS Stronger quantum resistant addresses coming to KaChat very soon! All you need to do is simply generate a new spend address. All new spend addresses have the upgrade. Send Kaspa to it and don't send anything out and that address will remain protected. Upgraded addresses start with kaspa:p... while the legacy addresses that always expose the public key start with kaspa:q...

Major breakthrough for the Kaspa Privacy Initiative! 💚🚀 Yesterday, we hit a serious bottleneck: generating our full zero-knowledge execution proof on CPU was taking far too long. So we rented an NVIDIA L40S GPU. And it worked! ✅ Full cryptographic proof in just 4 minutes and 16 seconds ✅ Independently verified on CPU ✅ Invalid operations correctly rejected ✅ Estimated GPU rental cost: just $0.12 For the first time, we've demonstrated that our complete test-model execution can be cryptographically proven in minutes, at a surprisingly low cost. And that opens up some exciting possibilities. 👇

kaspa:native just out-built solana:So11111111111111111111111111111111111111112. JP Morgan just helped shape a settlement tool for the banks to use blockchain. solana:So11111111111111111111111111111111111111112 built it first. @KaspaKii rebuilt it and made it safer with kaspa:native Covenants, a feature which means nobody can pull their money mid-trade. It’s early, and nobody’s noticed yet. Full breakdown video link in the replies below🔗⬇️

The Kaspa Privacy Initiative now has its own website! 👉 kpi.cash A place to discover what we're trying to build: optional financial privacy for native KAS, without introducing a new token or relying on custodians. You'll find the project's core ideas, principles and latest GitHub developments, automatically updated as the research progresses. And importantly, there's now a way to support the research with KAS. I've already invested many dozens of hours into KPI, and while AI makes it possible to move incredibly fast, the work also comes with real costs: a dedicated TN10 node, additional VPS infrastructure, AI development tools and hosting. I'm happy to invest my time and resources into something I believe in, but this is ultimately meant to become a community-driven, open-source effort. If you believe native KAS deserves optional privacy and would like to help move this research forward, any contribution is genuinely appreciated. You can support the project directly at kpi.cash And of course, ideas, technical feedback and contributions are just as welcome as donations. Let's see what we can build together!

Replying to @IzioDev
@IzioDev’s PR #1074 has been merged into rusty-kaspa. The changes affect how wallets and applications build transactions involving covenants, one of the foundations of Kaspa’s programmable transaction model. WASM tooling now supports creating transactions with covenants. The transaction generator has also been updated to use compute commitments, with changes to mass and fee calculations. There’s another detail worth noting: regular wallet transactions will no longer automatically select UTXOs associated with a covenant ID. Those outputs need to be handled differently from ordinary ones. This is work on the underlying transaction infrastructure, not the release of a new wallet feature. Merged into master, with approval from @Max143672. github.com/kaspanet/rusty-ka… #Kaspa #Toccata #Covenants

Replying to @KasperoLabs
@KasperoLabs has shown something worth paying attention to with Kozmic. On October 13, they deposited 0.5 KBT on Ethereum. Their published records show the corresponding KCC-20 tokens being minted on Kaspa L1 just 18 minutes and 29 seconds later. The interesting part is how it works. Instead of trusting a group of signers to confirm the Ethereum deposit, a Kaspa covenant verifies a zero-knowledge proof tied to Ethereum’s finalized state. There are important limits. KBT is a test token with no economic value. The bridge only works from Ethereum to Kaspa, the Ethereum vault has no withdrawal function, and the system hasn’t been independently audited. The Kaspa-side execution is documented by the project, but I haven’t verified it independently. Still, the implications go beyond bridging tokens. If a Kaspa contract can verify that something happened on Ethereum, that information could eventually be used to release payments, transfer assets or trigger other actions on Kaspa L1. Credit to @KasperoLabs for publishing the code, transaction records and proof data. github.com/kasperolabs/kozmi… #Kaspa #ZK

Had a really interesting conversation with Kaspa core developer @michaelsuttonil about the Kaspa Privacy Initiative today. We discussed our candidate architecture for a scalable shielded native KAS protocol, using covenants, ZK proofs, permissionless relayers and batchers. One of the biggest takeaways was how much of the infrastructure we're looking for may already be available through Kaspa's Based Apps and KIP-21. In our original design, one of the challenges was ensuring that batchers couldn't selectively omit user operations while claiming to have processed a complete batch. With Based Apps, user operations can be ordered directly on Kaspa L1 in an application-specific lane. KIP-21 provides cryptographic sequencing commitments, allowing a properly designed settlement proof to demonstrate that the relevant operations were processed correctly. That could remove a substantial amount of custom infrastructure we'd otherwise have to build ourselves. We also discussed canonical bridges, recursive proving and why sharding may introduce unnecessary complexity at this stage. Our next step is a small Based App feasibility PoC on TN10. We'll test lane ordering, execution, proof-based settlement, deliberate transaction omission and independent reconstruction before adding the actual shielded privacy logic. No architecture has been finalized. The goal remains to find the safest, most scalable and most decentralized solution, not to defend an earlier design. Really appreciate Michael taking the time to share his insights. Conversations like these are incredibly valuable. Technical feedback, criticism and contributions are very welcome! github.com/olafweller/kaspa-…

Kaspa is about to get a L1 bridge to Ethereum with no signers, approvers or admins anywhere in the path. Already proven on mainnet with a test token: deposit an ERC-20 into an Ethereum vault, mint a KCC-20 on Kaspa from a ZK proof of Ethereum’s own consensus.

The KCC Coordination Forum has reached an important milestone in the standardization process. The foundational KCC-1 and KCC-2 standards have now entered Last Call. This opens a final 14-day review period. If no major issues are identified, both standards will be finalized and considered ready for ecosystem adoption. We encourage anyone working with these standards to review them carefully and raise any remaining concerns during this period.
