Public Domain Wheel, Day 5: Atom the Cat October 1957. The Soviets had a dog and a satellite. We had a cat. The cartoon was for the public.
Day 5 of Spinning the Wheel of Public Domain Characters. Atom the Cat (Charlton Comics, 1957–59): An ordinary cat absorbs atomic rays from a nuclear reactor, gains super strength, flight & durability, but only if he keeps eating fresh fish. Created by Al Fago. I think I'm going to use the 1950s gimmick for this...

Day 4 of Reimagining Public Domain Characters: Sherlock Holmes. He was never a man. He was a product. SHERLOCK a Baker Systems AI, used by Scotland Yard to solve crimes they can't. And John Watson wrote every line of him.
Sherlock's the most crowded character on the whole wheel. Modern-day Holmes, steampunk Holmes, Mrs. Hudson-as-real-detective, Enola, and cosmic-horror Holmes have all been done to death. I'm also already working on the aging, failing-memory angle in The Last Irregular, so Day 4 needs a different lane.

❤️👍 THREE TEXAS A&M CADETS are being honored for helping save the lives of complete strangers right here in Aggieland! And their stories deserve some attention! Camila Ospina and David Berry were near Texas Avenue in College Station when they spotted a man who had collapsed. The man was unresponsive and began having convulsions. Rather than walking away, Camila helped place him in a recovery position while David called 911. Together, they stayed by his side until paramedics arrived. In a separate emergency, senior cadet Benjamin Claypole rushed to help a woman who had been hit by a vehicle while riding a moped. He actually took off his own shirt and used it to apply pressure to her wound until medical crews arrived. Now, all three have received the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Life Saving Award, a rare honor recognizing extraordinary courage and service to others. And here’s what stands out to me: None of these young people knew they were going to face an emergency that day. They simply saw someone who needed help and stepped up. ❤️ These are the kinds of young people who make Aggieland proud! 📲 Source: Texas A&M Corps of Cadets,

But Gary's story is real.
The iconic Bigfoot video from 1967 is officially confirmed to be a hoax after new archival footage was found for an upcoming documentary. (Source: variety.com/2026/film/review…)

I always do this. I hear something random and then I have an idea for a story. This comes from a ZZ Top song I heard on the From Dusk Till Dawn soundtrack.

Every night for 100 years, bandits come through the briars. Every night, she's waiting. The kingdom sleeps. Their princess never will. SLEEPLESS BEAUTY 🕯️ #PublicDomain #RedArrowComics
In 1812, the Brothers Grimm published Dornröschen (Little Briar Rose), sanitizing the brutal medieval folk tale into family-friendly lore: an uninvited 13th fairy curses a princess to a 100-year sleep, lethal thorns bury the castle, and a fated kiss breaks the spell. Let's see if I can reimagine Sleeping Beauty.
