I AM OFFICIALLY DONE WITH SOFTWARE COMPANIES RETIRING PRODUCTS YOU BOUGHT OUTRIGHT.
I opened a desktop photo editing app I purchased in 2021 for a flat $90 fee.
A full-screen pop-up blocked the workspace:
"This legacy version is no longer supported. Upgrade to our Cloud Suite for $14.99/month to open your files."
THE APPLICATION IS ALREADY INSTALLED ON MY HARD DRIVE.
THE FILES ARE STORED LOCALLY ON MY COMPUTER.
Now I have to pay a monthly subscription fee just to access work I completed three years ago on software I already paid for?
THAT IS NOT A PRODUCT UPGRADE.
THAT IS A DIGITAL RANSOM ON YOUR OWN HARD DRIVE.
