Great parks and recreation spaces don’t happen by accident. They start with listening to communities and investing in places where Baltimoreans live, play, & gather. From new playgrounds to improved recreation spaces, we’re creating more welcoming, accessible places for everyone.

Recreation should be accessible to everyone. Rec on the Run brings recreation directly into Baltimore communities, creating equitable access to programs and experiences. Teen Splash gives teens a chance to swim, connect, have fun, and enjoy a safe space in their community.

Vacshon learned to swim at Chick Webb. Today, the renovated pool is where he works as a lifeguard, teaching the next generation of Baltimore kids to swim. That’s the impact of investing in Rec & Parks. $23.5M in ARPA funding is helping transform aquatics across Baltimore.

Investing in Recreation & Parks means investing in Baltimore. It means investing in health, access, and equity, and in the places, programs, and experiences that bring people together, build community, and create a culture of connection. This is what we’re building, together.

We’re a finalist for the NRPA Gold Medal Award! Out of hundreds of agencies nationwide, Baltimore City Recreation and Parks made the final four in Class I for excellence in planning, equity, and innovation. Watch our video and follow along as we highlight what got us here!
