Sorry for my delay-posting, but here’s my pause to gush. Shared Stories hosted our Reverberation Book Tour reading last month (June 20th), we had an incredible ensemble of featured artists: Lacey Rowland, Heidi Kraay, Jyll Thomas, J.R. Acacio, Rebecca Evans, and Hannah Rodabaugh. Before the reading, Hannah and I taught our third installment of our popular workshop series, “How to Uncage Your Trauma.” (Also at Shared Stories). After, we dined at Amano!!! Ok. If you do nothing this summer, do Amano. Wow. Just wow. We also took a quick shot at this lifted car. What???? We’re blasting through our 2026 book tour, capturing moments, gathering new friends, connecting and sharing stories. Hope to see you at our next event, July 26th, 5-7 at Ochos, Echoes & Entanglement. @moontide @CornerstoneUWSP @unrlaketahoe @unr_lowresmfacw @boisestateuniversity #booktour #writingcommunity #poetrycommunity

This, an enchanting musical and spoken-word interludes where sound and language intersect. We'll showcase four artists who interweave and reverberate sound and words, blending ideas, erasing boundaries, and surpassing limitations. The event includes performances by St. Terrible and All Around Cowboy and a collaborative poem by Hannah and me.  Doors open at 5. The event is from 5:30-7 pm. Refreshments will be available including coffee provided by Flying M. As always, our event is free and open to the public. I can't wait to see you there! @ochos_boise @flyingmcoffeeboise @stterrible @allaroundcowboy_loops @unrlaketahoe @unr_lowresmfacw @moontidepress @boisestateuniversity #music #performance #poetry #poetrycommunity #writingcommunity #booktour

July’s Writer to Writer show features Ken Rodgers and myself in conversation with poet, essayist, and educator Michael Archer. Talk about a story. Talk about the ability to talk about a story. Meet Michael Archer, Vietnam combat veteran and survivor of Khe Sanh. Though he’s written five nonfiction books, the Khe Sanh triology has lingered the longest with me. Vietnam veterans silenced themselves upon their terribly unwelcomed return. Michael has been an integral cornerstone in unsilencing the stories of Vietnam. I hope you'll pause and have a listen. Here's the link to the show: soundcloud.com/radioboise/wr… #radioshow #writer #poet @veteransbookclub @vnveteransmemorial @_vietnamveterans_

Vinyl Listen Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. I’d just arrived in the UK, transferred from Grissom AFB and barely a year out of Basic Military Training and Schooling. I couldn’t wait to hit the London streets, look for music that I knew I wouldn’t find in America. I considered myself a rebel. Considered myself angsted and raged and morose. I dressed the part while off-duty—the drabbier and darker, the better. I headed to Rough Trade, known for independent punk and indie. There was also the Record, Tape & Video Exchange – second shops sprinkled across London with prices dropping per record every week. London was less than an hour by tube. This was my jaunt, my escape, my therapy. Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, though not punk or angsty, felt like a treasure. Songs like, “Perfect Skin,” “Rattlesnakes,” and “Are You Ready to Be Heartbroken,” fueled my melancholy. This, Rattlesnakes (released in 1984), is my only Lloyd Cole album. The CD with the same title, was released with four bonus tracks in 1985. I recently listened to one of these gems, “You Will Never Be No Good.” Pause and have a listen: youtube.com/watch?v=pXgYQGaq… #vinyl #records #writingcommunity #artist #poetrycommunity @thelloydcole

There's an origin story to everything. Sort of. At least there's what feels like a beginning, a lineage to where you've currently landed. This is true of my Free Little Libraries. I hope you find meaning in my moment. I hope you find beauty in everything. I hope you hold love wherever you go. @substack @substack_musings @moontidepress @unrlaketahoe @boisestateuniversity #writingcommunity #poetrycommunity #gardening #freelittlelibraries @littlefreelibrary

We arrived to dye. We wore aprons and woven hats and old jeans, our hair pulled back, our faces clear and clean. We were told to bring protein fibers, preferably wool, alpaca, or silk as lichen dye does not transfer well to other materials. We were told the lichen would turn a vibrant chartreuse. Told the madder would alchemy to bright red. Told the madder would work fine with cellulose fibers—cottons, linens, and hemp. We felt like scientists... (I hope you'll read my article up at @substack on the process of nature dyeing and how it relates to the artist's life)(link in comments) @polum_bolum @tealsblurrypictures @hannah_rodabaugh #nature #naturedyeing #lichen #madder #creativelife #poetrycommunity #writingcommunity

I Only Made It To The Quarter Finals in my last round of the People's Artist Award I Can Hardly Express My Gratitude I made it to eighth place in the quarter finals. For me, the voting has ceased as only the first place finalists advanced to the next round. Often we, as artists feel unseen, unheard, unremembered. Being part of this competition surprised me at how your championing kept me encouraged. I had no idea how many of you have been cheering me on and from all over; Germany, Ireland, Canada, Spain, and across the United States. I hope you keep supporting artists and their work. @peoplesartists @ArtElysium @johnnydepp @unrlaketahoe @boisestateuniversity @moontidepress #visualartist #watercolorartist #poet #essayist #writingcommunity #poetrycommunity

How much they teach about stillness and standing, despite the storm, the heat, the noise. A few quick pics from my backyard haven. #flowers #garden #backyardgarden #healingjourney #empowerment

How much I love this opportunity. Each month @iamjoelwayne invites local writers to read short pieces of prose or poetry based on a theme. June's theme is memory. I feel like I was born to talk (and talk and talk) about the fickleness of memory. In honor of memory, one of the pieces I chose to read was Lee Herrick's "The Mosquito." Herrick's work intersects fury and fire, beauty and loss, suffering and desire. I highly suggest opening his collection, SCAR AND FLOWER, first. I'd suggest even more to linger with his entire catalog of work. I hope you enjoy this listen. I hope you listen to all the episodes and capture words that lift you, reach you, alter you for all of time. @moontidepress @unrlaketahoe @boisestateuniversity #radioshow #literaryart #memory #memoirist #poetrycommunity #writingcommunity
