New diet racism. Because we heard you wanted all the flavor, but none of the calories…
No SUGARCOATING it: Republicans got SPANKED. Here's WHY.
Ladies and gentlemen we found someone to be Lauren Boebert crossed with original MTG! It’s great to know you made a terrible mistake in Day 2. I feel bad, truly, for folks in NY 21. Most of them don’t deserve this.
These are the first post-victory posts from the Congressman-Elect for #NY21, crashing out about the general GOP failures in NY last night and the media.

It’s worth pointing out that, although we’ll never know, even if Lindsey had lived… we might well be talking about one of the stunning upsets of the night.
BACKSTORY - How Annie Andrews shocked the world in SC - After Graham won primary, Andrews spent $5M+ on ads when she basically had airwaves to herself. By October her campaign had a 3-point lead and never trailed but didn't release the poll - Trump's Graham endorsement backfired. Mark Sanford: “A Waterloo moment for Trump ... this is a person who said: ‘Close your eyes and pretend you’re voting for me.’ OK, they did ... They just didn’t like Darline as a candidate and felt it had been forced down their throats by Trump" - Andrews made big inroads with Rs by courting supporters of Ralph Norman, getting Beasley endorsement. She worked closely with Clyburn to help juice turnout and other than Warnock kept the campaign local - This all led to a convincing win and ... coat tails. Dems picked up the Lowcountry House seat. Andrews ran ahead of Dem guv candidate; and Graham ran way behind semafor.com/article/11/04/20…

Republicans needed to start literally yesterday to say “we get it and we’re going to do better.” They would have an ad campaign up by Friday saying that they’re going to focus on keeping America safe and find sensible solutions on immigration, ideally with as much diversity in the speakers as they could find. It wouldn’t work…at least at first. They’d have to back it up with hard work and cleaning house. But all of it is a pipe dream. Trump doesn’t get it. Many of the rest of them - the ones who squeaked by on Tuesday night - are the ones who are actually the problem. The public needs to hear, before Thanksgiving, that Republicans are set to grow up and get serious about. Otherwise they’ll just go back to doing what they’ve always done and running into walls well before 28 starts.

It’s been 36 hours or so… and it’s already clear they’ve learned nothing and don’t see why they’re the problem.

… but of course that was just doubling down on an ad campaign they used anyway, calling people socialist extremists and screaming about some nonsense policy no one favors. Even if that hadn’t happened and they did use Mamdani, it would have just blown up in their faces bigger and faster.
NEW The Wall Street Journal reports that Republicans had planned on making New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani the face of the Democratic Party in an effort to paint Democrats as out of touch. That plan was upended when Trump accepted Mamdani’s invitation to meet at Gracie Mansion. House Republicans were “apoplectic,” and Speaker Mike Johnson later called the meeting an unforced error. This can seem obvious and Comer was a joke… but the clown shows in Oversight hearings were to get the innuendo and scare tactics into the right wing ecosystem. Without that sheen of seriousness, it’s just a lot of podcast influencers screaming about really irrelevant shit.
2028 will be the first prez election in 20 years where Republicans control neither House of Congress -- ie, no real oversight powers. This has mattered before. No Benghazi committee in 2014, no Hillary email server. In 2020, Senate Rs used oversight powers to advance the Hunter laptop story. In 2024, House Rs used the impeachment inquiry to grind down Biden. Of course, Trump runs Main Justice for the next two years, and it's been ready and willing to probe Democrats. But the days of James Comer reading an NYT story and launching an investigation are over, in two months.

It’s an interesting thing to consider…
I've thought about this a lot and I'm starting to realize that the entire political spectrum misread the sports stuff from 2018 onward. Most Americans haven't gone insane about trans people. They've gone insane about youth sports.

A US military source says: "Hegseth's days are numbered". There are differing views on why - some believe he will face inevitable impeachment by the Democrats, others believe Trump will sack him as the fall guy for the disastrous Iran war. Either way, he has already alienated significant parts of the US military. One senior military officer, not authorised to speak on the record, tells @thetimes: "Personally, after decades of service and five combat deployments I’m just tired of being called ‘woke’ by a secretary who seems to spend more time worrying about NCO business than actually making serious policy decisions."

In case you were wondering if voters can be wrong… yes, they can.
NY-21 Congressional Candidate and Trump loyalist Anthony Constantino declared victory in a profanity-laced speech last evening. Constantino scolded members of the media for not reporting his successes. He had WWNY Reporter Garrett Dombleski removed from his watch party, calling him an "a**hole" repeatedly.

Cute story. Not believable.
“After first lady Melania Trump complained about people she knew getting deported, the president would tell aides that the architect of his aggressive immigration campaign, Stephen Miller, had gone too far” wsj.com/politics/policy/how-…

Jesus might have done more for his constituents, wench.
Rep. Mike Lawler to me on his race, citing the brutal environment for the GOP: “Jesus Christ could have run and would have lost.”

“Election results so good I forgot to take my antidepressant” is apparently a thing. I don’t recommend it… but I’m better now.

Loyalty is going to slip, hon.
Thiessen: I was kind of shocked by that statement that Vance put out—it was quite frankly disloyal to the president. Why is he saying that? Baier: He wants to run for president? Thiessen: He needs Trump’s endorsement to do that.

There’s going to be a lot of trouble filling positions when he’s perceived as weak and associating with him is a career killer.
I spoke with three people who are very close to Ron DeSantis. They all poured cold water on the idea that he would join the Trump Administration. As one VERY close DeSantis ally told me: "He wants distance from Trump, not his stench." Wow, there you have it.

Also there’s a reason “Florida Governor” has never been the stepping stone to President.
DeSantis is a really interesting case of a guy who's obviously smart, is disciplined, seems to have been a solid governor, and can play a reasonable conservative, but just doesn't have that thing, that it factor that commands voters' attention.

Alabama (among others) reminding everyone that the South - the real south - will always pick a mediocre white over anyone trying to improve life for black people. If Colom breaks that in MS, that’s a very big deal.
My sincere thanks to all of our supporters who helped us along this amazing journey. I congratulate Tommy Tuberville on his election and sincerely hope he works to build an Alabama for everyone.

Big deal. Especially if Texas remains in play.
I'd like to point out the utter extinction of the Republican Party in California. They're down to a delegation of as few as 3 Reps out of 52 in the new House. Californians took up the gantlet thrown down by Texas and wiped out the GOP....

Actually the hilarious thing is that the “rigged election” storyline - a fundamental underpinning of MAGA - died last night and that, more than the stunning losses, may really leave them with nothing but rubble.
One thing I absolutely did not have on my bingo card is this year’s post-election discourse being the most civil, least conspiratorial discourse in at least a decade
