Thought for the day... In modern times, humans who take part as a sample (e.g. of medical patients) in scientific studies have stopped being called "subjects", and are now "participants". Perhaps this terminology could also apply to laboratory rats that will be dissected?

New Zealanders beware... Actual question from the Khan Academy educational website: "Howell has 75 kiwis. He will eat 2 of them every day. Is the number of kiwis left proportional to the number of days that pass?" ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

The first time I ever heard the term "VSEPR theory", a professor pronounced it "v-sepr". So that's how I still think of it, years later. I'm currently watching videos in which other professors pronounce it "V-S-E-P-R". Or worse, "vespr". And it grates on my nerves each time ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Quote for the day, from chemistry professor Jeffery Grossman of MIT, discussing the physics of Van Der Waals intermolecular forces... "Xenon doesn't have a dipole. But it has feelings. Because electrons have feelings".

Breaking news... Countdown supermarkets will re-re-brand back to Woolworths. Like it was called up to year 2011. $400million to change 194 store signs back to "Woolworths". So we can feel more like Australians. While paying ridiculous $$$ for groceries.

From the wilderness of the internet... "Freebird guitar solo on bagpipes'".

There is a special place in Hell for inDUHviduals who play online video games that use so much bandwidth that it drastically slows down the internet for other people on the same shared house account. While screaming about said game. The joys of living with random flatmates...๐Ÿ˜

The Emergency Mobile Alert system just sent out a test. It notes that I can't opt-out of receiving alerts. I wonder if there is any way to opt-out of being physically involved in an actual emergency? ๐Ÿค”

I've had this phone for over a year, and only just now noticed that the clock icon has the hands move with the time.
