“Much Given, Much Tested” just turned 1. This album changed my perspective on what it means to make and release music. If you make music & intend to release it independently, here’s a story. Never be afraid to bet on you. I’ve always written songs about my life, but this was the most open I have ever been. @dubsonata production really got me to go places in great detail. Songs like “The Ride” are moments where I found myself telling a story in a way I hadn’t been willing to tell it before. We spoke a lot about our goals for the before and post release rollout and that this was gonna be a project with more features & videos than I had ever done. It was a lot.

Happy Birthday “Much Given, Much Tested” I’ve got a lot of stories about what went into creating this album and will try to tell you as many of them over the next few days or week. For now I just want to say thank you. So much went into this and so many people helped me and us get this album across the finish line. Here’s a list of people we collaborated with. I left a few out when I was talking and I hate that because every person’s contribution is so special and unique. @nickelusf @tonespliff @foliesthemesong @michaelalanalien @zoodeville @chargedupnoaho @eveningelevator @nadeneco @distantdee @napoleondalegend @realsensus @soulspazm @zxulu_big_lipp_bamdit Slug of @atmosphere my amazing, patient wife @elizabethafields I don’t take anyone’s time or art for granted and we literally could not have done this without you. If I somehow left you out of this list, I’ll never leave you out of my heart. One time for my Uncle Garey. I haven’t figured out what to say yet but we love you. You saved our family so many times, our loss is Heaven’s gain. #thankyou #anniversary #independenthiphop #nootherway #diy

I heard from so many people yesterday. It means a lot to me that others can see their own situation in “Falling Down.” Being a caregiver is one of the hardest things any of us can or will ever do, especially when it’s for the ones who took care of us. Know that you aren’t alone even if you’re doing it by yourself. BlackLiq.com for all things “Much Given, Much Tested” including this video, vinyl, & CDs. 🎵 @DubSonata 🎞️ @bcmusic1st BTS: @distantdee 🎧 @RealSensus

Everything in the “Falling Down” video is real. I told @bcmusic1st I wanted this to be reality, not a reenactment. Heed agreed. This is me cleaning Heed’s PEG tube site and pouring the Jevity, checking her blood pressure, cleaning and bandaging her feet, grinding her medications and putting it in apple sauce, cleaning the litter box, serving her the purées I had to teach myself how to make, and feeding the strays next door with her and Larry The Raccoon. When BC and @distantdee watched me do all this they had a look of shock on their faces because they knew but they had no idea. And while I was doing all the things you’ve seen me do on social media, from albums and radio to teaching classes and constantly working, I was doing this. This is what it takes when life chooses you to take care of family. It gets dark and it’s so hard, but it’s beautiful. Being Heed’s caregiver was and has never been a burden, in my heart it was as will always be a privilege. “Me Too” is out now on YouTube! BlackLiq.com or bio to watch. Make sure you subscribe, like, and comment after you watch it, we’d love to hear your thoughts and we’ve got plenty more videos on the way! I wrote this song because I wanted to do something besides complain about this era where social media marketing often seems to overshadow making meaningful art. Sometimes I think we forget that we can say even more through our art when we market it by leveraging different mediums, such as music videos and performances. With authenticity! The game is saturated, attention spans are shorter than ever, most artists are barely breaking even, and just when you think you’ve connected with your audience the entire game changes again and you end up feeling like you’re talking to yourself. You are not alone. I promise you there are people who are looking for an artist just like you because they too feel the same way that you do. I’m living proof of that, it’s why I post my music at least once a day every day, no matter what. It is not always fun, but it is always worth it. I decided a long time ago that i would always value one view just as much as a million views because all that matters to me is that my art, my story, and my message reach YOU! I hope you enjoy this video we had so much fun creating, and that you check our album “Much Given, Much Tested.” It is all worth your time, and it is all for you. #blackliq #dubsonata #undergroundrap #socialmedia #musicmarketing #newvideo #nootherway #rva #woftd
