To people across Canada who accuse Albertans who want to leave confederation of “giving up on Canada”, or being a “traitor”, I say this:-
Over the last decade or two, when Albertans were asking to have their resource rights respected, or a fair seat at the table politically, or their culture respected, what did you do to stand up for them?
Nothing.
You didn’t stand up for Albertans, but yet you now demand they stick with you because you’re terrified of what’s going to happen to Canada without them.
Canada did this to Alberta. Don’t blame Albertans. Look in them mirror.

Elon Musk is a Canadian, US and SA citizen and understands Canada and Saskatchewan.
His mother was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, he spent time working in Saskatchewan and Vancouver, had 2 years of schooling at Queens University and has lived, studied and worked in Canada for about 3 years.
Mike Myers has Canadian, US and British citizenship and has lived in the United States for 38 years.
If Mike Myers can do a series of Elbows Up commercials for the Liberal Party of Canada, Elon Musk certainly has the right to comment on Canadian provincial affairs.

Alberta and Saskatchewan should separate too.

It has come to my attention that I have been denounced by @Advocates_Soc for criticizing judicial decisions — and yes, individual judges.
Here's the thing. When someone, for example, spends her lawyerly career writing op-eds in favour of migration and calling herself an activist, and then becomes a federal judge, and from that seat allows all sorts of undesirables to remain in Canada on weak grounds, people are free to draw a connection from A to B.
When a judge, for example, spends his lawyer years advocating fiercely for more race-based law, and then later throws out gun charges of black men on his (unsupported) assertion that police were racist during their arrests, people are free to question whether he's really a fair adjudicator.
When a judge, for example, says that a ban on drug trafficking is unconstitutional, and then *applauds* vigilante drug dealers for their self-proclaimed safe supply program — applauds them for supporting the business of organized crime and feeding the addictions of street people — that's beyond the pale. You're worried about democracy being poisoned? Worry about the judge who threw out Parliament's law against selling heroin because she felt it was "common sense" that it was supported by science.
I agree that it's not right to criticize a judge personally for impartially applying the law and coming to an unpopular decision (which they may even privately disagree with). But when their professional history, or their conduct in court, suggests allegiance to a cause that they happen to be ruling softly on, it will get noticed.
Bringing the administration of justice into disrepute is a two-way street, you know.

I love the subtlety of the English language. In Quebec you’re a “sovereignist”, in Alberta you’re a “ditchbilly, cousin marrying, MAGA Nazi, seditious, separatist traitor.

Always remember the Canadian dynamic.
When Quebec pursues sovereignty, they are asserting provincial rights and are to be respected.
When Alberta pursues sovereignty, they are selfish assholes.

Congratulations to Paul St-Pierre Plamondon and the Parti Québécois on electing a sovereigntist government in Quebec.
The same media that treats Quebec sovereignty as legitimate sneers at Alberta’s movement as “separatist,” radical and disloyal.
The double standard is blatant.

In 1822, Muslim Turks captured two Greek Christian women in Naousa and attempted to force them to convert to Islam. They smeared them with honey on the head and tied them exposed, so as to receive the stings of wasps and of passersby.
The first woman, wife of captain Zafeirakis, was then built into the wall up to the neck in the church of Hagia Sophia in Thessaloniki. She was left there for days for the entertainment of the wild mob that went there cursing and hitting her head with sticks as it protruded from the wall. She did not back down for a moment, strengthened until her last breath by prayer, and she never abandoned her Christian faith. Her martyrdom lasted five days. A passing gypsy woman, to hasten her end, threw a large stone at her, and thus the blessed one delivered her heroic soul into the hands of God, Whom she did not deny.
The other woman, Maria, refused to change her faith, and for this Ebub Lubut enclosed her in a sack with deadly snakes, where she was martyred.
The historian Eustathios Stougiannakis writes:
"The acute venom diffused into the veins of the martyr from the bites, however, killed her in sweet lethargy, praying until the last moment for her executioners and invoking the Most High and the Virgin."
And Pouqueville describes in the darkest colors to the civilized world the dramatic scenes he saw with his own eyes there:
"Many women naked were put up to the neck in sacks with cats, snakes, and mice"
The lifeless bodies of these holy women were eventually thrown into the sea.
These events took place during the Naousa massacre.
13 April 1822. Just 200 years ago.
409 men killed and over 400 women and children were enslaved.

The reason pro-Ottawa federalists push propaganda so hard is simple.
They have no factual case for why Albertans are better off staying in Canada while $52 million a day is drained from our paycheques to fund Eastern Canada.
All they can sell is fear and division.

I still don't think Canadians appreciate just how crazy the unmarked grave allegations at Kamloops were. So I tried to sum it up as best as I could ...
The unmarked graves at Indian residential schools mentioned by the Truth and Reconciliation predominantly refer to students who died of disease, usually tuberculosis and usually before 1930. They were then buried in onsite cemeteries with wooden markers, with the result that the grave location was lost when the marker rotted away. When you hear about graves being excavated at IRS sites, it's usually something like this.
The Kamloops 215, from the start, was an entirely different thing. It purported to provide evidence of an insane blood libel that the Catholic Church was secretly murdering Indigenous children en masse as late as the 1960s. The specific "knowing" was that staff were disappearing Kamloops Indian Residential School students and burying them in the school's apple orchard in the middle of the night. This was despite the fact that nobody could actually name a specific student that had been disappeared in this fashion.
What Kamloops did was equivalent to claiming that we finally had physical evidence of the Satanic ritual abuse panic. So, think of it like a Canadian hospital publicly claiming that they'd found an onsite mass grave filled with babies murdered by Satanists in the 1980s.
Actual residential school deaths were employed as cover for an utterly bananas urban legend. And that's why, in 2021, Canada was thrown into a profoundly destructive cultural revolution from which we may never recover.
