My Halloween Advent calendar. 18th OCT Creepy Crawly - Stan Medcalf (1970) One of my favourite library albums. Track title reminds me of seeing The Stranglers at a local leisure centre. Hugh Cornwell opened the gig with "Good evening, creepy Crawley!" youtube.com/watch?v=4b2nQMWH…

Yesterday, I saw this new fizzy pop advertised on posters and wanted to see if the slogan was correct. It's true, I could taste Silk Cut, Malibu and a hint of a Wendy cheese burger. We are already looking at engagement rings.

My Halloween advent calendar. 17th OCT City Of The Living Dead OST - Fabio Frizzi (1980) Astonishingly, this LP was a genuine, rarest of rare chazza shop finds. Cheap too! I nearly fainted on the premises. Sleeve art by the godlike Graham Humphreys. youtube.com/watch?v=sBkeGfVK…

My Halloween advert calendar 15th OCT Dracula (The Dirty Old Man) OST by The Whit Boyd Combo (1969) No, not a horror-flavoured sequel from the 'Steptoe & Son' film franchise, but some obscure erotic flick Dracula? Drax-ula, more like! One for the 007 nerds youtube.com/watch?v=Pa55JMkF…

A new charity shop that specialises in vinyl/ CDs has just opened near me. I overheard a customer telling the manager, "I've got loads of albums you can have, good '70s stuff." The manager was delighted. "So... about how much will you give me for them?" Some people are so thick

My Halloween advent calendar 14th OCT Cosmic Abduction - Harry Bromley Davenport from XTRO (1982) The opening sting of this sounds like it comes from an 80s public information film about the dangers of storing bleach in an old lemonade bottle. Mad film! youtube.com/watch?v=nWNc4BfM…

Watched Itch! (2024) last night. It was ok for a low budget horror. To its credit, the film did make me scratch my skin all the way through. Haven't felt like that since watching the itching powder scenes in Carry On Teacher (1959), Carry On Girls (1973) and Carry On Crabs (1976)

My Halloween advent calendar OCT 13th Twisted Nerve (Main Theme) Bernard Herrmann A lot of people today only know this track as the whistling tune from Kill Bill (2003), but it originates from this 1968 thriller. It's just made a dog outside start barking. youtube.com/watch?v=UHosUr5p…

Bought this crap tonight. Reminds me of the time I designed a poster for a college production in '83. It was a sub-Jamie Reid collage of images that included a '50s clipping, "IN SPECTACULAR 3D!" A fellow student asked if we needed 'them special 3D glasses' to watch the play. 🙄
