Muistuta taas: jos joutuisimme sotaan, olisi Suomen kiireellisin tehtävä tuhota Muurmannin rata, että amerikkalaiset eivät pysty sitä kautta lähettämään apua Venäjälle.

Know what happens to work really well against “breadth-first searches for every possible mistake and misconfiguration” ? xitter.cf/thegrugq/status/210951…
The answer is only relevant to a small niche of infosec. Most organisations are hacked by vectors that don’t involve memory corruption exploits. Agentic hacking doesn’t look like exploits, it looks like breadth-first searches for every possible mistake and misconfiguration.

I'm working on a massive video where I'm getting help from a lot of cybersecurity people to explain why doomers are wrong, and why we need to focus on improving security.

People know that LLMs only generate tokens while the GPUs running them keep computing, right? And that without generating the next token, nothing happens, right? And that if the harness doesn't parse the tool call in those tokens and call a tool, nothing happens, right? Right?!?

1/ My new blopost on "Why the AI Vulnpocalypse Isn’t the Breachpocalypse (Yet)?" TL;DR: The vuln surge (‘The Vulnpocalypse’) is real. The breach surge isn’t. YET. Vulns were never the bottleneck; the economics are. medium.com/@TalBeerySec/why-…

Maybe I'm out of touch. But didn't these people used to make science edu videos that were pretty good? Seems they've been listening to "AI Safety"-people and this falls firmly in the EA narrative FUD. 25M subs get to see this shit. youtube.com/watch?v=ujkD4SxP…

Here’s another example of why some stories are illegible if they omit the EA Cult. The omission means they just don’t make any sense. Imagine that Seventh Day Adventists rob your house, but then another bunch of Seventh Day Adventists show up, offering to help trace the stolen goods. If you knew they were associated, then you might have a few questions. Almost every story that contains the phrase “AI Safety” now falls into this category. It’s a sort of anti-news. It looks like news but you’re guaranteed to be a lot more confused than you were before reading it.

So I will try to explain, if I am wrong, write it to my comments. So simply today’s finish and the final photofinish were so close and logically the comments immediately came with questions: Why does Ciccone look like he’s riding a children’s bike? Why does Remco’s bike look longer? Etc. I won’t hate anybody who asked those questions, because not everyone understands how it all works, so here I will try to explain. So here’s why: A cycling photofinish is not a normal photograph. It scans a single vertical plane, essentially the finish line, over time. The horizontal axis therefore represents time, not distance. That’s why bikes, wheels and riders can look completely distorted. The bottom of the wheel is moving very slowly relative to the road at the contact point, while the top is moving much faster, which can make the spokes and rim look dramatically curved. And there’s another detail many people don’t realize: the photofinish camera isn’t necessarily positioned directly on the black finish line. It is usually placed on the white area immediately before it, because trying to distinguish black tyres from a black finish line wouldn’t make much sense. So the image may look strange, but the leading edge of the front tyre (the point that determines the result) is recorded accurately. And at approximately 3,500 frames per second, the difference between Remco Evenepoel and Giulio Ciccone was then about just 0.00028 seconds. Insane…
