This call and the Davison fumble are both just so egregious to me. Massive swing for Oregon. They would have gotten at least 3 out of that Ify Obidegwu pick.
This was called a @HuskerFootball TD after review. Fox Sports Rules Analyst @MikePereira gives the breakdown behind the call.

People will look you dead in the eye and justify CFP expansion with “games on campus” like we don’t already have those weekly

CFB "leaders" are some of the biggest failures in the world...a 24-team CFP is the bailout they hope people are dumb enough to buy

There won’t be much of a reason, unfortunately. Mediocrity will be rewarded. 8-4 in big ten or sec will be good enough for certain teams. “We’ll get bigger matchups in reg season” will be a rallying cry, but the result won’t mean much in the end.
Iowa beat Michigan on a last-second touchdown? Doesn’t matter! Michigan could still lose 3 more times and be fine.
LSU lost a pivotal, heated matchup with Ole Miss? Tough for Kiffin, but they can still lose 3 more times and it doesn’t matter at all!
USC lost by 14 at home to Oregon and never wins notable games? Doesn’t matter! They’re in at 8-4!
Ohio State blew a 20-point 4th quarter lead and lost to Texas? Who cares! They can still probably lose 4 more times and get in as the 24-seed.
Regular season goes out the window with this horrific 24-team format.
NEW: College Football Playoff 24-team expansion talks will continue this week with meetings in Chicago, @PeteNakos reports.
Momentum is building for a 24-team field, with the ACC, Big 12 and Notre Dame supporting it and the SEC open to it.

This isn’t a normal backup, Dylan Raiola is a seasoned starter and was fantastic tonight.

I believe in some circles this is called “cooking the books”
NEW: The College Football Playoff committee will now consider a strength-of-conference metric in its selection process, @CFBHeather reports.
The new metric will help determine the strength of each conference based on the schedule strength of each team in its league.

College football lightning delays are getting absurd.
So I went down the rabbit hole: how many people have actually been killed by lightning during a Division I football game in the last 50 years?

CFB logic: Let's trade 12 games of the greatest regular season in sports for one more early round of CFP games. The ones that everyone already complains aren't competitive.
Tony Pettiti will go down as one of the worst things that ever happened to our beloved sport.
NEW: A 24-team playoff isn't just coming - it will drastically change the bowl system per @On3 👀
Bowls moving BEFORE the season. P4 teams refusing to play. Sponsors walking. A lot of unknowns

Morning thoughts on Oregon Ducks after Oklahoma State loss.
A good night sleep always helps.

Everyone saying, “Ohio State won the playoff, and they were the better team” is completely missing the point.
Ohio State lost TWO games to Michigan and Oregon. In the old system, they’re not even playing for a national championship.
2008 USC lost to Oregon State. Did that suddenly mean Oregon State was the better team? 😂 USC finished 12-1, allowed 9.0 POINTS PER GAME, ranked #1 nationally in scoring defense and held opponents to 221.8 yards per game. That defense has a legitimate argument as one of the greatest ever.
Give that USC team a 12-team playoff and they would’ve dog-walked everybody.
That’s the point: the expanded playoff changed what losing a regular-season game means which made college football so epic every Saturday
Every game in college football DOESN’T matter anymore.
15 years ago, Oregon beating Ohio State in Autzen would’ve basically eliminated Ohio State from the national title race.
In 2024? Ohio State lost, got a rematch in the playoff, beat Oregon and won the title.
That’s the problem. College football used to be special because EVERY Saturday had consequences. Now it’s becoming the NFL with college uniforms.
