Originally, "Earth Day" was intended to be on the Vernal Equinox since it occurs simultaneously worldwide, an ecological event that transcends social divisions.

#EarthDay will be far more effective in reminding everyone that Earth belongs to everyone if we MOVE IT BACK to the #SpringEquinox! (April 22 is a random date with no relevance to the planet Earth.)

Saving the ecosystem means saving humanity. And helping people see things the way they really are makes the world a better place!

The first Earth Day was on March 21st, NOT April 22nd. Of course, there are people who think a lie told often enough will become the truth. So WHY don't they want us to have a global holiday to celebrate our planet? It's because they care more about power than about the ecosytem.
