Norwegian researchers drove a Chinese EV into a mine to cut it off from the world. It still tried to call home.
The project is called Project Lion Cage. Tor Indstøy, a Telenor security executive, monitored his own NIO ES8 SUV for years. About 90% of the connections he logged went to Chinese servers, even though NIO tells European customers their data is processed in Europe.
The car carries cameras, microphones, location tracking and always-on modems. Most traffic is encrypted, so researchers could see where it went, not what it held. That is the gap. China's National Intelligence Law requires companies to assist state intelligence work. Nobody has proven spying. The question is who can be forced to hand over the feed.
A separate test by Oslo transit operator Ruter found the Chinese Yutong bus could be reached by its maker through software updates, including battery and power systems. Yutong says it cannot control steering or brakes.
Countries buying cheap Chinese EVs should expect to ask what else comes with the price.
Is a lower sticker price worth putting a Chinese-controlled sensor on every street?
Norway 🇳🇴 put Chinese 🇨🇳 EVs in a mine so the cars could not “see” the outside world. 🚘
They still tried to call home. 🛜
Researchers found data moving with the car switched off.
About 90% of the traffic from the car they tore down went to China.
Same country now selling cheap EVs into Canada. 🇨🇦
Cameras. Mics. Always-on modems. PRC intelligence law.
This is not a green-car debate. ♻️
It is a rolling sensor debate. 🛰️
Ottawa wants the cheap sticker price. Beijing wants the feed.

🇯🇵🇹🇼 A Taiwan advocacy group in Nagoya called for replacing “Chinese Taipei” with “Taiwan” at international sporting events.
The group cited the 1979 Nagoya Resolution, which established “Chinese Taipei” for Taiwan’s Olympic participation.
It urged Japan and others to support “Taiwan” at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, calling the current name politically imposed.

BREAKING: Turkey's cumulative inflation over the last 20 years has hit nearly 3,000%.
If you saved ₺100,000 in Turkish lira 20 years ago, it would only be worth just ₺3,300 in real purchasing power today.
🚨 TURKEY IS IN THE MIDDLE OF A FULL BLOWN MARKET CRISIS RIGHT NOW.
Turkey's stock market crashed more than 8% this week after a local fund manager admitted it couldn't meet customer withdrawal requests.
That single admission triggered a broader panic across the entire fund industry.
Regulators then froze and ordered the liquidation of 131 investment funds worth ₺890 billion, roughly $18.3 billion, affecting around 350,000 investors.
Several large asset managers are accused of running what officials are calling a "Ponzi like scheme," buying illiquid shares in related companies to artificially inflate their fund values and pull in more retail money chasing what looked like miracle returns.
Investors reportedly pulled as much as $1 billion out in a single day, which is what forced the freeze in the first place, authorities were trying to stop a stampede of redemptions from crashing prices even further.
The response has been extraordinary.
Turkey's central bank slashed margin requirements from 35% down to 20% to stop falling prices from triggering automatic margin calls.
The country's sovereign wealth fund started directly buying blue chip stocks just to hold up the benchmark index.
Two of Turkey's biggest banks, İşbank and state owned Ziraat Bank, were ordered to handle the actual liquidation of these frozen funds, a process that could take up to three months, or longer if regulators extend it.
This is not a normal correction.
This is regulators actively intervening at every level, freezing money, buying stocks, changing margin rules, and providing emergency liquidity, just to keep the market from spiraling further.
And the underlying problem, whether the assets inside these frozen funds are actually worth what they were valued at, still hasn't been resolved.
The stabilization is happening on the surface while the real question underneath remains completely open.
And this is all happening at the same time the lira keeps hitting fresh all time lows and Turkey's 10-year bond yield sits above 32%, meaning stocks, the currency, and the bond market are all under pressure together.

This is what a country selling itself as a "global power" looks like in reality: a third-world economy, governed by failed-state-equivalent political institutions. It will get worse

I don't think China would invade Taiwan for a few reasons.
1. The amphibious invasion would have to be DDay on steroids
2. The island itself has the geography of Afghanistan combined with the Jungles on Vietnam
3. China does not like molesting the money

TURKEY’S CENTRAL BANK SOLD $5 BILLION IN FOREIGN CURRENCY AS ITS MARKET CRISIS DEEPENS.
And now the state is stepping directly into the stock market.
Turkey’s sovereign wealth fund has started buying major blue-chip stocks to stop the market rout.
And it’s prepared to keep buying if extreme volatility returns.
This means Turkey is now using two powerful tools at the same time:
The central bank is selling billions in foreign currency.
The sovereign wealth fund is buying stocks to support the market.
These are not normal market conditions.
When a country starts using its reserves and state money at the same time to stabilize markets, it shows how big of a crisis the country is dealing with.
