When you make fun of @phoeft34 for wanting to mount fish in his home you get this mounted on your LRC wall for your birthday. #WBPandas
“...when we teach about love, acceptance and kindness without addressing this inequity, we gloss over crucial differences in the ways our students experience the world.”
"The harm done by long-term exposure to injustice ... calls for more than a simple understanding of kindness. It demands that kindness be interwoven with substantial notions of true justice."

This doesn’t happen everyday. It is fitting it happens on the day we are Blacking out for Black lives and hopefully supporting our local independent bookstores, too. The #1 and #2 overall bestsellers @amazon right now are two books challenging racism. This is you. 🖤🙏🏾🖤🙏🏾

Tonight the President of the United States used the American military to shoot peaceful protestors with rubber bullets & tear gas them.
For a photo op.
This is a horrifying use of presidential power against our own citizens, & has no place anywhere, let alone in America. Vote.
Fact. #softpantsforlife

Teachers & librarians - As you share read-alouds & books with your families during this time, please consider featuring Asian authors as one way to counter the ignorance & racism we're seeing from those who are calling COVID-19 the "Chinese virus." Let's teach kids to do better.

The president is turning to racist rhetoric to distract from his failures to take the coronavirus seriously early on, make tests widely available, and adequately prepare the country for a period of crisis.
Don't fall for it. Don't let your friends and family fall for it.

Friendly tip: For ppl standing in long lines among empty shelves at Costco, Trader Joe’s, etc. your local Asian grocery store may still be well stocked (ours was).
Bonus: you get to support local businesses that may be dealing w racist ripple effects of coronavirus fears.
