Intentionally using starvation of civilians as a method of warfare by depriving them of objects indispensable to their survival, incl. wilfully impeding relief supplies as provided for under the Geneva Conventions is a war crime under the Rome Statute.
Today Secretary General António Guterres invoked Art. 99 of the UN Charter.
I have emphasised the imperative that humanitarian relief be allowed into #Gaza immediately and at scale.
I wish to reiterate in the clearest terms possible that wilfully impeding relief supplies to civilians may constitute a war crime under the #ICC Rome Statute.
