While many of us are settling into our back-to-school routines, children in Gaza are starting their third school year with no school. Israel has damaged or destroyed over 90% of schools in Gaza.
Hey look! It’s me! 😊

Excited to share that my story is featured in this week's edition of Science Magazine! Being able to do my research with my Tribe & in my homelands has been so impactful personally and for my career.
It's important for other young Indigenous researches to know it's possible!

Today I completed the Biology of Parasitism (BoP) course at the Marine Biological Lab! I got to learn all things parasite ranging from bioinformatics, cell bio, to immunology, and work with many different parasites. Grateful to all the work that went into this course! #MBLBoP2025

A new experience I’m having in the realm of Tribal politics is that some community members opposed to me have been referring to me as a Marine Biologist as a pejorative. Like I wish I knew more about dolphins and crabs, and knew how to scuba dive 😂
I just started reading a book about Parasites and just when I thought I could read something without anti-Indigenous rhetoric, the first chapter starts by reinforcing the “land bridge theory” and describing my and others’ Indigenous ancestors as “immigrants.” 🫠
Come ask me questions about science and art at the Early Career Mixer happening now at ASLO 2024 😂 #ASLO24

I’m officially leaving the cast of @pokesciencepod and not for fun reasons! I no longer endorse the group & its activities, but I sure am going to still talk about Pokémon & science in other avenues 😁
Check out the reasons why I left in a statement I wrote below.

There have been consistent problems with #PikaScience leadership over the past year with a lack of transparency to the cast, a lack of and inconsistencies in group structure/operations, continual asks of cast members to perform more and more uncompensated labor, [1/n]
A continued empty apology and an ask for “professionalism” and labeling everything as a “misunderstanding” 😑
