Honoured to be asked to talk on @TimesRadio earlier about this distortion in our tax system and how pensions can help 👇
It sounds like a lot, but for those with a young family earning a low six-figure salary can put you on a cliff edge where a £2,000 pay rise will cost you £12,000 ⬇️

Excellent piece by The Gaffer in @MoneyTelegraph today. Constant speculation about pension tax reform damages trust in retirement saving. A commitment to a Pensions Tax Lock would deliver much-needed stability for savers. telegraph.co.uk/money/pensio…

Enjoyed talking to @KayBurley this am about today's inflation figures and what they could mean for interest rates + Budget. Somehow completely forgot to mention the fairly obvious state pension implications of inflation coming in at 1.7%!
Inflation has fallen to 1.7%. @thomasselby says it could signal a further interest rate cut by the Bank of England - but all eyes will now be on the upcoming Budget and what it could mean for your money. #KayBurley OM

Lots of chatter about raising revenue by restricting tax relief for pension contributions. NOT a great idea. There are good ways of getting more revenue though: restrict tax free lump sum, impose some NICs on contributions or benefits in payment, stop absurd exemption from IHT
NEW: Raising revenue from reforms to pensions taxation @finan_fairness funds this Pensions Review comment, summarising options for reforming the tax treatment of private pension saving, including what should not happen as well as more desirable reforms: ifs.org.uk/articles/raising-…
