The word “climate” appears 81 times in the Democratic Party's 92-page platform. But the Democrats aren't talking about nuclear energy at their convention in Chicago & there's not a single mention of nuclear energy in their platform. Why not?

VOGTLE, GEORGIA: US SECRETARY OF ENERGY CALLS FOR "HUNDREDS" MORE LARGE NUCLEAR REACTORS
"We need two hundred of these by 2050. Two down, one hundred and ninety-eight to go."
US Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, speaking now in front of the flawlessly-operating Vogtle 3 & 4 nuclear reactors.
It's extraordinary that this is what Democrats now sound like on nuclear.
It's truly a bipartisan consensus that America needs to build way more nuclear power. – at Georgia, USA

It’s been 10 years since the original unicorn analysis (when we accidentally coined the term)🦄
So, our @CowboyVC team dug into new data. The tech industry has changed a TON!
✨ From 39 to 532 unicorns
✨ Pendulum swung HARD from consumer to enterprise
✨ Business types, founder backgrounds & geos changed a lot
BUT
🥺 Unicorns became way less capital-efficient
🥺 93% are ‘papercorns’ & 60% are ‘ZIRPicorns”
despite many fragile unicorns right now, we see many healthy ones too
And with AI, we expect 1,400+ capital-efficient unicorns by 2033, which will make tech even bigger and more important🌟
It’s a long read (sorry!) but pls check it out - would love feedback. What resonated, what did we miss? 🙏 🙏 🙏

This is an important graphic. Nuclear energy struggles in places where electricity is treated a commodity.
I'm going to have @E_R_Sepulveda on the Power Hungry Podcast to talk about this.

Yet the Irish government still hangs onto outdated antinuclear legislation
Nuclear can provide use with a safe, carbon free energy that is always on. This energy can be produced in Ireland providing highly skilled Irish jobs.

This is cool:
My 1900-word piece on the Osage tribe's HUGE court win over Enel is #1 today on a platform that shall not be named.
My prediction: this ruling will NOT be covered by @nytimes, @npr, @juliaradio, or @JStein_WaPo
Why not? It doesn't fit the "green" narrative.

Let's talk #NuclearEnergy. There is a lot of misinformation surrounding nuclear energy, but MIT's Kaylee Cunningham is using her training as a PhD student in #nuclearscience & #engineering to dispel common myths. Read more about Kaylee's work: news.mit.edu/2023/winning-ov…
Soul Train: Believe me, your foot hops up and down with the first downbeat and never stops all the way to the end. Warning: dancing in your seat is acceptable and expected. Have fun.
Soul Train: with incredible choreography and music to match it is a story of love, passion, success, and failure. In addition for me, it’s the story of American innovation bringing forth an important element of American culture.
The Hippest Trip: Soul Train the Musical. Folks, if you are like me and grew up watching Saturday television, you are going to love this new musical which premiered September 6 at ACT in San Francisco. A beautifully told story of Don Cornelius, the founder of Soul Train.

Kaylee Cunningham recognizes that her training as a PhD student in nuclear science and engineering could be for naught if myths on nuclear power continue to abound. Known online as “Ms. Nuclear Energy,” she is committed to help — one TikTok at a time. mitsha.re/igMJ50PFu7A

These two posts, from @_HannahRitchie and @pwrhungry should remind us that the efficiency advantages of wind and solar on electricity generation side are given back when you try to electrify everything, or even a lot of things…

The deepest irony here, of course, is that when and if X-Energy deploys its first high temp gas reactor at Dow refinery on Gulf Coast, it will be the first refinery in US with a required emergency planning zone...
When nuclear regulators such as @JeffBaranNRC and Brad Crowell insist small modular reactors must have expansive emergency planning zones unjustified by any reasonable standard of risk, they effectively advocate for facilities like this, which have no emergency planning.
