Without saying your age… Name something that used to be in almost every house that kids today probably wouldn’t recognize.

My bus stop in Bridge St, Sydney is right next to this building. Years of commuting, and I'd never seen the WWI Honour Board in the lobby. Today I did. And one name stopped me: W. Blackadder. Real name. Real man. So who was he? 🧵

He enlisted in April 1916, aged 33. Sailed from Brisbane that September. In France by December. Three months later, on 26 March 1917, he was killed in action.

He has no known grave. His name is on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial in France. His brother John had already died there in 1916. A marble board in a lobby, and I'd walked past it for years. Worth stopping to read. The positives of not staring at my phone all the time.

Just came back from holiday overseas. Every single ad I saw in X was AI generated. Like these 4 pictures - AI generated, all the same pic, with the colour AI changed. Ads for shavers, clippers, hair spritz - all impossible, AI generated, videos.

Also noticed, on Koh Samui, two thirds of 'food photo' adverts outside restaurants were AI generated, even in chain restaurants.

Just in case you missed the headline last week, this is REALLY important and gets at a larger trend that will shape AI discovery and human knowledge... Google Data Commons teamed up with the United Nation to make all of its public statistics accessible for the age of AI and agents 👏👏 (Full announcement here: blog.google/innovation-and-a…) This is a HUGE public good that unites global stats into one AI-ready knowledge graph you can connect to your agent via MCP. Say what you want about big tech (and I will alongside you for some of it), but I just love seeing examples like this where they put their resources and expertise to work for the betterment of society in ways that only they can. The new industrial revolution that we're currently embarking on isn't just about physical infra build out... it also requires rewriting how the world's data is accessed and managed. I'm happy to announce that I'll be adding the UN's new dataset to DeepSieve.ai so you can perform complex multi-hop deep research and analysis between UN System Data Commons global statistics and the rest of the web! ♾️

Even without the latest GPT-6 it could create a completely fake Strava track of a run, given the start point and the pace you wanted to claim. Don’t ask me how I know 😂

Heads up to teachers. Many of them use Custom GPTs. The writing was in the wall when they stopped you sharing new ones, so act now
Custom GPTs in ChatGPT will likely be retired on December 11 "Migrate your GPTs by December 11 - GPTs that aren’t migrated won’t be available after December 11. Migrate yours so people can keep using them as plugins." "Create a plugin instead - Plugins are replacing GPTs as the new home for custom tools. Create a plugin now, or continue creating a GPT during the two-week transition."

What? You can no longer create and publish custom GPTs in #ChatGPT consumer accounts. The pricing page says it's still in the features, but the help pages say "No" help.openai.com/en/articles/…

Now you can only do it in work accounts (Business, Enterprise, and Edu) and often they are set up to not allow sharing outside the org. I tried in my personal Pro account, and I can create a new one, but cannot share it with anybody

This seems like a big change for education, where teachers are running out of ways to be able to share ChatGPT assets like this with their students. All those "Ask Prof x" type chatbots will die out (unless staff and all students have ChatGPT Edu accounts)

On the other hand, if I leave it on, the Windows Snipping Tool allows me to simply extract text from my screenshots with two clicks, running on my laptop. And saves me time
🚨Windows Users Windows 11 runs an AI setting you don’t need (probably) Here’s how to turn it OFF ⬇️ 1. Open Settings 2. Go to Privacy & security 3. Open Text and image generation 4. Turn OFF Text and image generation

Anybody want an AI course to share with a friend or colleague, where it's about how you use it, not the technology itself? Well, I'm just about to release my AI for Humans course from last year, free of charge online. Sneak peek here: aiforhumans.education #LifelongLearning

I pass through this station every week. The lighting on this video captures it so well. And what you don't see here is the Opera House, just hiding off the right of the screen
The most beautiful station in the Southern Hemisphere.

TIL I have finally 'recognized' that Teams doesn't have an "Australian English" language pack, so it ignores the setting and uses US English 'categorization'. The fix is to set 'Follow OS settings' to OFF, and then choose UK English @microsoft_au

If you really want change, all the evidence says you should reduce your coffee by 50c, then impose a 50c surcharge on disposal coffee cups, not offer a 50c discount for using a keep cup on a higher price. So why doesn’t anybody do that? #behaviouraleconomics
