Hypothetical / fictional comparison: My son was born a Japanese citizen in Nov 1998. I got him American nationality in Sep 1999. Wouldn't it be very weird to celebrate his birthday in September, pretending he hadn't been in the world for those 10 months?

Honestly, this might be one of the hardest things to explain to younger generations of gamers. How a barebones (by today's standards) home port of an arcade fighting got rated and reviewed as the pinnacle of gaming, and everyone went "fair enough".

SoulCalibur on the Dreamcast is still the defining 10/10 game, imo. Nobody questioned it then. It was clear why it got those scores. It just leapfrogged everything else at such a massive scale. I'm not sure we've ever seen a game do that again ever since, still.

A Japanese indie developer added full Czech language support to BALL BOY Simulator after noticing that only one person from the Czech Republic had wishlisted the game. Instead of thinking it wasn’t worth the effort, the dev decided that one player was enough. He also said the idea was inspired by the Czech baseball team’s performance at the 2023 World Baseball Classic Even Warhorse Studios, the team behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance, gave the developer a shoutout for the dedication.
