🎮 SONY, THE SILENCE ISN'T MAKING THIS GO AWAY. Let me clear it up for you, @Sony. "It ain't going away." I suspect Sony believes that if they are quiet long enough, we will lose interest, the frustration will fade, and it'll be business as usual, "fleecing gamers in new, creative ways." Well, small problem with that theory. We aren't forgetting. We're adapting. Jailbreaking, emulation, and the growing push for consumer ownership rights are showing something Sony may want to pay attention to. Gamers are finding ways to be less dependent on the greedy companies that sold them their hardware. Yeah, what happens when the alternatives become easier, more accessible, and more reliable? Sony will learn that gamers don't need its ecosystem as much as Sony needs gamers. 👈 But I digress. 😎 ⏰️ November is coming, and Sony's next financial reporting period is right around the corner. Shareholders will look at the numbers. I won't pretend our efforts have affected Sony's bottom line, but I believe consumer dissatisfaction deserves their attention. Stockholders look at trends, "and gamers raising hell with Sony should be a trend!" 🎯⚡️ This concerns me most. We've reached a point where corpos want to control products AFTER we've paid for them. They want to control access to games, where we purchase them, and whether we have access years down the road. They want to nickel & dime us to death, repeatedly, until we're just a solid stream of revenue. Yup, it's true. Just smile, open our wallets, and accept it. No dinner first. "We just get fu*ked." 👉 Remember Sony's legal argument that reasonable consumers understand they're purchasing a license rather than ownership of the underlying game? 👈 That's a legal distinction worth understanding. But it doesn't make our concerns disappear, especially when storefronts use words like BUY and PURCHASE. Words are power. Those words create expectations. Think about this. You find a game you really want. You're ready to spend $$ on it. But instead of BUY or PURCHASE, the storefront says RENT or LEASE. Would you still be interested? Would you still pay the same price? More importantly, would you look at that transaction a little differently? This is why I wrote the Gamers' Bill of Rights. Not everyone agreed with every article- that's fine. But the underlying issue is serious. How much control should a corpo retain over something we've paid for? How many fuc*ing times are we going to pay for it? Here's where it gets interesting. Sony isn't the only company watching how gamers respond to these changes. Other corpos are watching too. And the message we send through our purchasing decisions, our criticism, and our drive to explore alternatives extends far beyond PlayStation. It's the butterfly effect. We don't need generic outrage. We don't need threats. And we don't need to attack people who disagree. There are those who have no problem opening their wallets. We need consistency. Momentum! We need to RAISE HELL! Keep asking questions. Keep demanding transparency. Support consumer choice. And when a corpo makes a decision you disagree with, know that your wallet speaks a language its shareholders understand. "@Sony can remain silent. Gamers, we sure as hell don't have to."
