holy shit. claude just pushed a theoretical physics calculation beyond the previous record after working on it largely by itself for days. >previous record: 8 loops >claude reached 9 >largely unsupervised >wrote its own code >found two different ways to calculate it >both gave the same result >107,053 nonzero coefficients matched physicists then spent weeks checking the work this is the shit i’ve been waiting for. science is about to get fucking weird.
New on the Science Blog: Yes, Claude can do Nine Loops. Theoretical physicists predict how particles behave using formulas called scattering amplitudes. These are notoriously hard to compute, so researchers work with layers of increasingly fine corrections called “loops”—each added loop makes the answer more precise but takes exponentially more computation. Most calculations stop at two or three loops. Eight loops was the previous record in a simplified model physicists use as a testing ground (planar N=4 super-Yang-Mills), set by SLAC's Lance Dixon and collaborators. Last month, physicist and science writer @4gravitons issued a challenge: could an AI push past eight loops in this model, using only the compute budget an academic could reasonably access? Given a single prompt describing the nine-loop problem, Claude ran largely unsupervised for days in Claude Science and solved it using methods developed by Dixon and his colleagues, at a total cost of a few thousand dollars. Dixon independently verified the result, and von Hippel wrote about the experience for our blog. Read more: anthropic.com/research/yes-c…

The AI Singularity The argument goes like this: 1. Humans build an AGI. 2. The AGI becomes good at AI research. 3. It designs a smarter AI. 4. That smarter AI designs an even smarter AI. 5. The cycle repeats faster and faster. Looking at the results and capabilities from the various labs over the past few weeks I would say we are firmly in this loop now. The next 18months will be wild. Recursive self improvement will dramatically increase capability very quickly from here. Marginal costs of all models will go to ~$0.

Dale is one of the first AI filmmakers I became a fan of years ago, and why I brought him in to @promise_ai. Watch his latest proof of concept.
This is 100% AI. Yes, it’s a crazy premise with a doomcore version of “Old Macdonald Had a Farm” . That's what AI is for.

Great speech from @EmmanuelMacron . Through Ray Dalio's lens: Education → Innovation → Relevance. Germany/EU checks box 1. But innovation? Raising €1M for a startup in Germany it's doable but hard. BUT the real issue: German/EU savings flow into bonds & US equity, not local ventures in the later stage. That's where the EU fails. Capital exists. Allocation doesn't.

This is the second best post I’ve ever read on X and I wish I had a chance to read it 10 years ago. I sent it to many people close to me and if you haven’t yet, it worth the 30 minute read

It's over. Hollywood isn't ready for what AI is about to do to production. Creatives are dropping INSANE videos with Veo, Kling, Hailuo... 10 wild examples: 1. Character swaps at negligible cost (by ederxavier3d on IG using Kling Motion Control)

When Pixar was R&D’ing Toy Story, they weren’t posting every broken render, half-baked test, or WIP animation pass on the internet. They cooked in the background. They iterated quietly. They perfected the craft. Then they released Toy Story, and the world fell in love. A lot of anti-AI discourse today is people nitpicking GenAI based solely on random WIP clips and rough experiments they see online. That’s like judging Pixar off an internal test render. What they’re missing is that real professionals are heads-down right now. Kitbashing. Stress-testing. Building hybrid workflows. Solving the hard problems off-camera. The public isn’t seeing the real work yet. And when the finished pieces drop, not the experiments, not the drafts, not the posts for engagement, people are going to be genuinely blown away. Craft always wins. It just doesn’t livestream the kitchen.

After premiering a feature film in Jan 2025 that relied a lot on AI, for fun, I taught AI tools to rooms of other filmmakers. Those who understand those tools, and how to integrate traditional craft, will separate in 2026.

This is absolutely insane: Venezuela currently has 303 billion barrels of crude oil reserves, which Trump says the US now controls. Oil prices are trading at ~$57/barrel, making Venezuela's total reserves worth $17.3 TRILLION. Even if the US sells this oil for HALF of the market rate, that's still $8.7 TRILLION. In other words, in 12 hours, the US has gained control of oil reserves worth more than the entire GDP of ALL countries in the world, aside from the US and China. That's 4 TIMES larger than the GDP of Japan. Most people do not realize how much the world just changed. Oil markets will react to this news for the first time on Sunday at 6 PM ET. The next few days will be critical.

🚨 Today is a turning point in AI. A Chinese open source model is #1. Kimi K2 Thinking scored 51% in Humanity's Last Exam, higher than GPT-5 and every other model. $0.6/M in, $2.5/M output. The best at writing, and does 15tps on two Mac M3 Ultras! Seminal moment in AI. Try it on OpenRouter:

Wer ungesund bleiben will, zahlt halt. Fair ist fair. Wie viele würden wohl wechseln, wenn das finanzielle Incentive größer wird?
