Well, that was wild. I'm at the Australian Parliament and just left a meeting with two staffers for the governing party. They told us that the government needed more power to censor things like the upcoming US execution of Nidal Hasan.
When I asked why they needed to censor that video, one said it was to prevent copycat killings. Copycat killings by governments? I asked. Er, no, they said. Copycat killings like of a backpacker, several decades ago.
So, under that logic, I pointed out, the government should censor things like last year's Bondi massacre, where two Muslims killed 15 people, no? Well, that was news, they said. Didn't they realize their bill would allow the government to censor news? They didn't seem to know, or care.
They also admitted that they did not know that the bill would allow the government to create and operate an unlimited number of fake social media accounts to attack its political enemies and spread disinformation. Having presented them with information they had never heard about a bill they had clearly not read, they emphasized to us, strenuously, that they were moving forward with the bill.
So there you have it. The government wants the power to arbitrarily censor scenes of violent crime, or violence, for any reason. And it wants the power to use an unlimited number of fake accounts to wage offensive disinformational warfare against the Australian people.
Given that the Bondi massacre last year increased public opposition to mass migration, and support for the populist One Nation Party, it seems obvious that the government wants to censor such events in order to protect its political power.
It's quite telling how obediently governing party members insist such a law is needed without even knowing what's in it.

Germany is about to permanently flood one of the largest open-cut lignite mines in the world - a blatant act of environmental vandalism
The Hambach mine sits on an estimated 1 billion tonnes of extractable lignite reserves. Yet under Germany's accelerated coal exit plan, mining will cease in 2030, and the pit - descending nearly 400 metres below ground- will be flooded to create a massive recreational lake.
Flooding Hambach represents an irreversible loss of a critical domestic energy reserve. Critics view it as an act of energy vandalism by a political class obsessed with meeting rapid net-zero targets.
Located in North Rhine-Westphalia - where the state environmental ministry is led by the Green Party - the decision reflects a broader ideological pivot. The same political movement that dismantled Germany's functioning nuclear plants is now entombing a billion tonnes of hugely valuable domestic fuel beneath hundreds of metres of water.
Once the pit fills with water piped from the Rhine River, the coal reserves beneath will be permanently inaccessible, leaving future generations without access to this strategic energy supply.

Cherokee leaders owned Black slaves, fought for the Confederacy, and spent 150 years trying to erase their descendants.
When the Five Civilized Tribes wrote slavery into their laws, they held over 8,000 enslaved Black people by 1860.
After the Trail of Tears, their slaves marched with them. When they signed with the Confederacy in 1861, Stand Watie led Cherokee cavalry and Principal Chief John Ross, a slaveholder, signed the treaty before switching sides.
After the 1866 treaties forced citizenship, the tribes kept trying to strip it. Cherokee voters expelled the descendants in 2007, and the Muscogee Nation is still fighting it in federal court.

A big part of center-leftism is people thinking they are good at telling who is trustworthy based on tone, mannerisms, diction, titles, and prestige. So you can show them examples like this, and they’ll say “but the people who went after Trump were good, serious people just upholding the law, while the investigation into Omar is clearly political persecution.”
The issue is that the “good person signs” libs rely on are very simple and easy to fake, and the majority of people they trust have indeed just learned this as a parlor trick, consciously or unconsciously. Whether someone speaks in soothing NPR-ese does not actually tell you whether they are honest or know what they’re talking about, and in fact in the modern day probably anticorrelates with trustworthiness.

Honour killings are so common in the Islamic Regime of Iran that not a day goes by without reports of another woman having been murdered by her family members. Maryam Yarmohammadi, a 28-year-old woman, was murdered by her brother on October 5th after her husband took the children and left the house in a coordinated act with her brother. So the brother attacked her with a knife and cut her breasts, genitals, and neck.
When her brother and husband were detained for conspiring and murdering her, a number of her relatives gathered in front of the hospital and protested their detention. These family members stated that they forgive the perpetrators and have no complaint, as under the Islamic penal code, the victim’s father can forgive her murderer if the murder is an honour killing.
In her obituary published without her picture as is customary in an Islamic country, both her brother and her husband’s names are printed as her “beloved” relatives. That is also customary. As if the murderers mock women they kill even after they are buried and gone. This is Islam for you. May Maryam rest in peace now.

هدف قرار دادن عامدانه سینهها و اندام تناسلی یک زن در کنار سایر جراحات، پرسشهای جدی درباره انگیزه ناموسی و تلاش برای تحمیل شدیدترین شکل مجازات خانوادگی مطرح میکند. اگر هماهنگی میان همسر و برادر او و حمایت خانواده از مرتکبان تأیید شود، این پرونده نمونهای از خشونت سازمانیافته در محیط خانواده و سازوکارهای اجتماعی حمایت از خشونت علیه زنان خواهد بود.
زنکشی تنها به لحظه ارتکاب جنایت محدود نمیشود؛ سکوت، توجیه خشونت و تلاش برای جلوگیری از پیگرد قانونی مرتکبان نیز میتواند به تداوم چرخه خشونت و بیکیفرمانی دامن بزند.

What is an “Irish poet”? Is Nidhi Zak (below) an “Irish poet”?
This self-styled “Irish poet”had been handed innumerable positions by ministers, state bodies, festivals, colleges, juries, journals etc.. She is Omani/Indian & came to Ireland to study in UCD in 2018! She is in my opinion taking numerous positions that should be reserved for Irish writers to properly represent & preserve our cultural tradition. To call herself an “Irish poet”, to be recognised as such & to be promoted beyond all experience & merit is as offensive as it is ludicrous.
We are fighting for the meaning of the word ‘woman’ & now we must fight for the meaning of the word ‘Irish’. Both words have been colonised by people who are neither.
Irishness, like womanhood, is not a feeling in a person’s head.
It is well past time to stop this absolute nonsense.

A Berkeley chemical engineer who suffered years of unexplained illness discovered through a spy camera from Amazon that her coworker, David Xu, was poisoning her food and water with cadmium, a toxic heavy metal for nearly 18 months between 2017 and 2019. The victim experienced significant health problems and at times required emergency care at a hospital. Newly released video shows Xu appearing to put a substance in her water bottle in 2019.
Xu was arrested that year and charged with attempted murder and two counts of poisoning, offenses that could have sent him to prison for life. But under a plea deal, the attempted murder charge and one poisoning count were dropped. Xu pleaded no contest to one felony poisoning charge and received two years of probation, with credit for one day served. He completed probation in March and is now seeking to have his felony conviction dismissed.

I have said this many times. Our society is so divorced from violence of any kind, so perplexed by the notion of any normalization of violence (which was the case for all of human history until 5 minutes ago), that far more women than I can believe seem to not be able to comprehend the deficit between them and men. If women, in general, truly comprehended the capacity for men to hurt them with very little effort, even accidentally, they would never, ever, even attempt this kind of nonsense or anything similar. This woman could have easily been killed, and unintentionally, at that.
Should a man kill a woman because she is being physical and stupid? No. If he can, in any way, resist its necessity, then of course not.
However, if she understood just how deadly he was she would have never approached him like this.
Fascinating.
