🇺🇳 António Guterres: “The scale of killing in Gaza is unlike anything I've witnessed in my years as Secretary-General.”
FACT-CHECK: ❌
Under Guterres's watch since 2017:
🇸🇾 Syria: 120,000+ killed
🇸🇩 Sudan: 150,000+ killed
🇪🇹 Ethiopia: 162,000+ killed
🇾🇪 Yemen: 200,000+ killed

@andyburnham, you say Britain must "stand for something." Fair enough. But what you have actually delivered is a policy built on selective outrage, disputed statistics, and a timetable that happens to suit your own party's electoral needs.
Start with the numbers. You cite more than 70,000 dead in Gaza, 20,000 of them children. These figures originate with the Hamas-run health ministry, an organisation with every incentive to inflate civilian casualties and no independent mechanism for verifying them. Western governments have relied on these figures for years despite repeated warnings from analysts that they make no distinction between combatants and civilians. If you're going to build sanctions policy on numbers supplied by a proscribed terrorist organisation, you ought to say so plainly, rather than presenting them as settled fact.
You insist the measures are not aimed at Israel or its people, only at "the unacceptable policies of the current Israeli government." Your own officials contradict you. Distinguishing settlement goods from wider Israeli exports is, according to Whitehall's own assessment, nearly impossible to enforce in practice. What you're calling a targeted measure will function as a general boycott, falling on ordinary Israeli families in the settlements and on the tens of thousands of Palestinian workers employed in Israeli firms, who earn more there than they would at home. So call it what it is: collateral damage. Not precision.
Then there's the timing, which you don't address at all. Your announcement lands the week of a by-election in Keir Starmer's former seat, a contest Labour cannot afford to lose to the Greens, one day before the third anniversary of the October 7 massacre falls on the very date voters go to the polls. You write that you condemn Hamas "in the strongest possible terms." Your government has chosen the anniversary of Hamas's atrocity as the moment to escalate pressure on the country that atrocity was committed against. If that's moral clarity, it's a strange way of showing it.
You also have nothing to say about the other side of the ledger. A two-state solution requires two parties willing to accept the other's right to exist. Hamas has never renounced its founding aim of eliminating Israel. The Palestinian Authority speaks the language of peace in London and Brussels while continuing to fund payments to the families of convicted terrorists. You're asking Israel to make concessions toward a state whose two governing forces have given no comparable undertaking in return. Diplomacy asks something of both sides. This asks something of one.
Your claim to defend British Jews rings hollow against the same backdrop. The Community Security Trust recorded 1,926 antisemitic incidents in the first half of this year, a rise of 21 per cent. British Jews have been stabbed in Golders Green. Ambulances belonging to a Jewish charity have been burned. You say blaming British Jews for the actions of Israel's government is antisemitism, "plain and simple," and you're correct. But a government that escalates hostility toward Israel at the precise moment that hostility is translating into violence on British streets doesn't get insulated from the consequences of that choice merely by saying the right words afterwards.
You want credit for standing for something. What you've actually built is a policy that punishes the wrong people, rests on numbers you can't verify, and arrives on a date you can't explain away. Leadership doesn't look like this. It looks like a government solving a problem in Holborn and St Pancras by creating one in the Middle East.

MLK extensively plagiarized his dissertation. Boston University confirmed it and still kept the degree, attaching only a note. His legacy was largely protected. How does that fit the ‘Black people are treated as racial stand-ins’ claim?

YouTube is not a safe platform for CREATORS.
YouTube isn’t going to change unless we make them.
We are the creators who make YouTube what it is. Without creators, YouTube is nothing.
Here are 5 reasons creators need to demand better:
1. No real human reviews + terminations can destroy YEARS of work
YouTube’s systems can terminate a channel, and most creators have almost no realistic way of getting a real human to properly review the case.
Appeals get denied. Automated systems make decisions. Creators are left fighting to get someone to actually look at what happened.
You can spend YEARS building a channel, then lose it overnight.
That’s insane.
2. Creator Support can’t reliably help creators
YouTube tells creators to contact Creator Support when something goes wrong.
But ask an important question and you can get:
“We can’t answer that.”
And even when they DO give you an answer, what happens when that information turns out to be wrong?
How the hell are creators supposed to protect their channels when the support system they’re told to rely on can’t even give them answers?
3. No warnings. No second chances after a mistake.
Creators can make one mistake and suddenly face serious enforcement without getting a meaningful opportunity to correct it first.
One mistake shouldn’t have the power to erase years of work.
Creators need a real chance to understand what they did wrong, fix it, and move forward not feel like one mistake can end everything.
4. The circumvention policy can wipe out CLEAN channels too
A creator can lose one channel, and YouTube can treat other channels connected to that creator as circumvention even when those channels weren’t the reason for the original termination.
One mistake can turn into losing EVERYTHING you’ve built.
Multiple channels. Years of work. Audiences. Communities.
And when the creator believes the enforcement is wrong?
There’s often no real path to undo it.
5. YouTube keeps moving the monetization goalposts
YouTube has changed its monetization requirements, making the road to monetization harder for Shorts creators and newer creators.
Creators are already grinding to build an audience, and the requirements keep getting harder to reach.
YouTube wants creators to keep building on the platform while making creators question whether that platform is actually worth building their future on.
Creators need to start building on platforms that value them. Try Rumble. Try TikTok. We all need to explore other platforms so YouTube knows creators have somewhere else to go.
YouTube isn’t going to change unless we make them.

YouTube is ignoring the real problems.
Creators are being terminated every single day, and instead of fixing the AI moderation system that keeps getting things wrong, YouTube is making monetization harder.
You’re losing creators every day because of your moderation systems.
Creators can lose years of work with little to no warning. Where are the warnings? Where is the transparency? Where is the real human review?
And seriously, why is it damn near impossible for a creator to reach a human reviewer when something goes wrong?
There are thousands of users on X fighting just to get a human to look at their case.
Creators built your platform. When something goes wrong, there should be someone there to help.
You say you want real creators who bring revenue to YouTube, but every time you wrongfully terminate a creator, you’re losing their content, their revenue, and their audience.
You want creators to stay on YouTube instead of moving to other platforms, but when you terminate them, you don’t just lose the creator you lose their entire community too.
Their audience can simply follow them somewhere else.
So why are you making monetization harder while creators are already struggling to trust the systems deciding whether they can stay on the platform?
Fix the moderation. Give creators meaningful human review. Give creators warnings and transparency.
We built your platform. Start listening to your creators.

If you send a copyright claim and the person it's sent to falsely claims they've taken legal action, what is the next step without making me wait 3 hours for YouTube support.
Do you punish people that falsify documents pertaining to pursued legal action?
