🛰️ We are thrilled to celebrate the success of the European @Astro_Pi Challenge 2024-25! 🎉
The European Astro Pi Challenge is an ESA Education project run in collaboration with the @RaspberryPi_org. Featuring two inspiring missions – Mission Zero and Mission Space Lab – this challenge gives thousands of young minds the chance to conduct scientific investigations in space running a code on the Astro Pi computers onboard the International Space Station. 💻🛰️
Highlights from this record-breaking year:
🚀 Over 25,000 participants in more than 17,000 teams joined Mission Zero, successfully running their code in space. 🖼️
🚀 44% of Mission Zero participants identified as female, showcasing the programme's commitment to inclusivity and contrasting the usual gender distribution in Computing subjects. 👩💻
🚀 More than 500 teams, comprising 1,800+ young people, took part in Mission Space Lab, creating programs to calculate the speed of the International Space Station using sensor and camera data from the Astro Pi computers. 📊
From first-time coders to advanced space experiments, students showed off their creativity, curiosity, and coding skills—with amazing support from mentors, teachers, and parents. ✨
