this is one of those movies that, especially from the perspective of most critics, is considered one of denzel washington’s worst. honestly, i couldn’t disagree more with that assessment

I woke up thinking about how some of my mates are doing far better than I am.
Am I hungry? NO.
Can I buy whatever I want? Some by God’s grace.
Am I where I used to be? Never.
And that last question is the one I keep reminding myself of.
Sometimes we look at people our age and everything they have achieved, and suddenly we start feeling like we are behind. Someone just bought a new car. Someone bought a house. Someone is travelling, building businesses, getting married, making millions, or living the kind of life we once imagined for ourselves.
And before you know it, you start questioning your own life.
But pause.
Look at yourself. Look at how far you’ve come.
There was a time you prayed for the things you casually have today. There was a time certain amounts of money looked impossible to you. There was a time you didn’t have the connections, knowledge, confidence, experience, or opportunities you have now.
You have grown.
Maybe you’re not exactly where you want to be yet, but you are not where you used to be.
And that matters.
Don’t let somebody else’s chapter 20 make you hate your chapter 10.
Don’t let another person’s success turn your own progress into something you can’t appreciate.
Your mates will achieve things before you. Some will achieve things after you. Some will take a completely different route from yours.
Life is not a race where everyone starts, runs, and finishes at the same time.
I have learned to look at my own life and say:
“I’m grateful. I’m still growing. I’m still building. I’m still becoming.”
Am I where I want to be? Not yet.
But am I where I used to be?
Never.
And by God’s grace, the person I will become tomorrow will make today’s version of me proud.
So please, don’t live your life in misery because somebody your age seems to be doing better than you.
Celebrate people. Learn from them. Let their success inspire you but don’t use it as a weapon against yourself.
Your journey is still valid.
Keep working. Keep praying. Keep learning. Keep moving.
One day, you’ll look back and realize you were making more progress than you thought.
❤️💡
