Invisible doesn't mean less real. During Invisible Disabilities Week (Oct 18-24), let's think about the conditions that may not be immediately apparent to others, including mental health conditions. Depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD and other conditions can have a significant impact on a person's work, relationships, daily functioning and quality of life, even when there are no visible signs. ow.ly/zAhU50ZZ1ub For clinicians, understanding what's happening beneath the surface requires careful assessment and clinical judgment. Rapids Health is working to make timely psychiatric expertise more accessible in primary care. With Soli, clinicians receive an in-depth diagnostic report and personalized treatment guidance. With Ori, they can access clinical decision support when they need it. Contact us for access to try both products! ow.ly/AXPh50ZZ1uc #InvisibleDisabilitiesWeek #MentalHealth #ADHD #BipolarDisorder #Depression #PrimaryCare

Depression isn't always straightforward. With MDD, clinicians face complex questions: Right diagnosis? Treatments? What if patient isn't responding? Adult ADHD: What counts as impairment? Difficulty concentrating isn't enough to diagnose ADHD. An important part of assessment is understanding whether symptoms are causing clinically significant impairment at work, at home, in relationships or in education. Missed deadlines, disorganization, forgetfulness, difficulty managing responsibilities and problems with time management can all be signs of functional impairment. Anxiety, depression, sleep problems and other conditions can also affect attention and executive functioning. For clinicians, it's not looking into “Can this person concentrate?” Rather, “What pattern of symptoms is present, and how is it affecting their life?” Soli by Rapids Health provides an in-depth diagnostic report and personalized treatment guidance to support clinicians through assessments for Adult ADHD, MDD, GAD, insomnia and bipolar. This World Mental Health Day, listening needs to lead to action. The 2026 theme is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.” People who have experienced mental health challenges bring expertise that cannot come from clinical training or research alone. Their experiences can help identify gaps in care and shape responsive, person-centred services. At @RapidsHealth, we believe better mental health care also means giving clinicians the evidence and clinical decision support they need to make informed decisions with the person in front of them. See what patients and clinicians have experienced: ow.ly/hxhF50ZW27y Better mental health care is about using the right information to support better decisions. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealth #MentalHealthCare #PrimaryCare #ClinicalDecisionSupport

People with ADHD can often focus intensely when something is interesting or engaging. ADHD is about patterns of symptoms and impairment, not simply whether someone can concentrate. For clinicians, distinguishing ADHD from other conditions that can affect attention, mood and functioning is an important part of assessment. Then, it's onto treatment. Ori by Rapids Health provides ADHD treatment guidance to support clinicians, as shown in this clip, showing pharmacotherapy recommendations for an adult female with ADHD. OCD isn't always what people think it is. OCD isn't simply being very organized, particular or worried about germs. OCD can involve intrusive, unwanted thoughts or images, and repetitive behaviours or mental rituals intended to reduce the distress triggered by those thoughts. For some people, compulsions are visible. For others, they're almost entirely happening in their head. OCD can be missed. CAMH notes that people may go more than a decade before symptoms are recognized and accurately diagnosed. ow.ly/FCGR50ZSmG8 For GPs and NPs, asking the right questions is an important first step. We're expanding Ori's range of supported conditions to include OCD diagnosis and treatment. Follow us for more! #OCD #MentalHealth #PrimaryCare #Psychiatry #ClinicalDecisionSupport #OCDTreatment

What can Canada’s mental health system learn from The Royal? Recent Globe and Mail article highlights how The Royal in Ottawa reduced its outpatient programs from 17 to 3, added psychiatrists and began using centralized data to better match services with patient demand. The results: outpatient visits nearly doubled from January to June, while the number of patients waiting for care fell by 62%. But improving access isn't only about hospitals. As GPs and NPs manage increasingly complex mental health presentations, how can we bring the right clinical expertise and decision support closer to the point of care? That’s a conversation we’re passionate about at @RapidsHealth. The role of the nurse practitioner in mental health care is evolving. A new initiative in New Brunswick is bringing family physicians, NPs and psychiatrists together to strengthen mental health expertise in primary care. The model includes NPs and family physicians with advanced mental health and addictions training supporting patients with moderate needs and short-term stabilization, while helping reserve specialist resources for the most complex cases. This raises an important question: As primary care takes on more mental health care, what clinical decision support will GPs and NPs need? We think that's an important conversation. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. For many people experiencing mental health challenges, primary care is the first place they turn for help. Physicians and nurse practitioners are often making complex decisions about diagnosis, risk, treatment and when specialist support is needed. Yet access to timely mental health expertise can be challenging. At Rapids Health, we're working to help close that gap by putting evidence-based clinical guidance and psychiatric expertise closer to the point of care: rapidshealth.com/?utm_source… Even if you're not a clinician, you can play a role in suicide prevention by learning to recognize when someone may need help, and knowing what to do next. Here's a good resource on prevention: canada.ca/en/public-health/s… Thank you to everyone keeping the discussion going, and working toward a mental health system where no one falls through the gaps. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #SuicidePrevention #MentalHealth #PrimaryCare #MentalHealthCare

When a complex mental health case needs a specialist, what happens next? “When I need a referral for a complex case, it can take 7 different referral requests until I find a specialist whose wait list is not full.” That’s the reality many primary care clinicians face when a patient needs more specialized mental-health support. And while a referral may be appropriate for some patients, not every complex case needs to wait months for specialist care. Rapids Health helps physicians and nurse practitioners access evidence-based diagnostic and treatment guidance for patients with mental-health concerns, quickly, without adding another layer of administrative work. With Rapids, 260 clinicians have used the platform to support 2,600+ patients, with 59% of specialist referrals avoided. Our goal? It's not to replace psychiatrists, but to help primary-care clinicians make more confident decisions about who needs a referral, who can be managed in primary care, and what to do next. Is it ADHD - or are we just distracted? We all procrastinate. We all lose focus. And constant notifications and information overload don't make concentration easier. So how do clinicians distinguish adult ADHD from everyday difficulties with attention? According to CAMH's guidance for clinicians, considerations include: • ADHD symptoms must have been present before age 12. • Are difficulties affecting work, relationships, organization, time management or other areas of daily life? • Depression, anxiety and other conditions can overlap with ADHD symptoms. • Structured screening tools, such as the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS), can help identify patients who warrant further assessment, but screening alone does not establish a diagnosis. ADHD doesn't always look like hyperactivity. This is where structured clinical decision support can help. Soli brings together validated assessments, diagnostic guidance and evidence-based treatment recommendations to support clinicians assessing and treating adult ADHD. 👉 Explore Soli: ow.ly/M4Q650ZImPx #AdultADHD #ADHD #PrimaryCare #FamilyMedicine #NursePractitioner

What if better mental health care started with giving primary care clinicians better tools? Nurse practitioner Dawn Gammon has extensive experience in mental health, from emergency care to psychiatric care in the Canadian Forces. Yet even with that experience, she found that Soli changed how she assesses and supports patients. “Even with all my experience in mental health, Soli taught me most of what I need to know to fully support my patients.” Soli helps primary care clinicians bring together patient history, validated psychiatric questionnaires, diagnostic guidance and evidence-based treatment recommendations—supporting more informed, personalized care. Dawn's story is a reminder that even experienced clinicians need the right tools to navigate increasingly complex mental health care. Is it anxiety - or something else? Not every anxious patient has generalized anxiety disorder. In primary care, anxiety symptoms can reflect GAD, depression, another #anxiety disorder, or even an underlying medical condition. For GAD, look beyond “feeling anxious.” Persistent, excessive and difficult-to-control worry is often accompanied by symptoms such as: • Difficulty concentrating • Insomnia • Irritability • Restlessness • Muscle tension Anxiety shares many symptoms with other psychiatric disorders, and comorbidity rates are high. The right diagnosis is the foundation for the right treatment. Ori provides evidence-based clinical decision support for GAD, MDD, bipolar disorder, adult ADHD and insomnia, helping clinicians access relevant psychiatric guidance when they need it: rapidshealth.com/ori/?utm_so… Here’s a helpful CAMH resource summarizing the diagnosis of anxiety disorders: ow.ly/Lie050ZFrHS #PrimaryCare #FamilyMedicine #NursePractitioners #Psychiatry #GeneralizedAnxietyDisorder #ClinicalDecisionSupport
