effectively every major tech product has been made worse in the last few years explicitly as a means of inducing growth, all as the tech industry has built giant monoliths selling software under the threat of job replacement, and in doing so has made all hardware more expensive
I have no patience anymore for cynical tech talk. What happened to being excited to learn about a new product before jumping immediately to ‘why won’t this work?’

Women with high cognitive ability face "detrimental interpersonal ramifications" at work Men do not. The theory is that smarter women violate perceived social role expectations leading them to face backlash that men do not receive psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?d…

its funny (read as: aggravating and demoralizing) that the dept of ed is trying to act like people should study only "profitable" majors like the entire jobs sector isn't in shambles. sometimes I really hate being able to see the big picture because it's exhausting.

you get up there and act like studying English is what dooms you to being unable to pay back student loans when its actually that companies are doing everything they can to cut labor costs. and that never means a cut at the top. it always means cyclical layoffs

not even the CS majors you told everyone to be have steady work anymore. they are getting laid off every 6-12 months cause line must go up per fiscal year. so sick of these people playing in our face

‼️ BREAKING: A zero-day has been released for Muse, Meta's new AI agent, and a Meta AI security engineering manager who left the company this month says he would never use it, citing security and privacy concerns. He was reacting to the zero-day a researcher posted, which lets malware hijack Muse for Mac. A local process with no special privileges can change an undocumented Muse setting and send dictated prompts to an attacker's server. This could allow for prompt capture, prompt injection and theft of Muse's authentication material. It can also get access to whatever the user has let Muse access, including files, Mail, Messages, Calendar and Notes.
