🟦 UPCOMING PERFORMANCE 🟦
PERFORMANCE: INTRODUCTION BY ANIKA MEIER
When Jiny Lan visits the gallery and tells you that she‘ll come back to do a performance, you don‘t say no.
Well, I didn‘t say no.
Jiny Lan is a Chinese feminist artist; she co-founded the BALD GIRLS.
From the New York Times in 2012 about the first exhibition of the BALD GIRLS in Beijing:
"Feminist art in China, a country where very few women dare say they are feminists for fear of social ostracism, is still a tiny phenomenon. But, in fact, the show on Saturday didn’t need the censorship to have an impact. The artist’s actions were dramatic enough."
Well, when they named the group BALD GIRLS, they didn‘t plan to actually shave their hair off. But because several artworks had been censored at their first exhibition opening, they spontaneously decided to shave each other's hair. The BALD GIRLS made the statement in public that they are feminist artists. Long, glossy hair is traditional Chinese standards of female beauty.
What statement will Jiny Lan make with her upcoming performance titled 'Eyewitnesses Wanted for Artist'?

"Is art going in circles? Is it looking backwards?
Definitely.
These maneuvers are tactical. This is contemporary art as refuge.
Tapped to entertain in art’s castles, artists and curators find it more strategic to retell old stories, reprise old work, rehash old battles, and pine for old peace.
Contemporary art is cozy art in a dark forest. The fire is in the hearth."

We take over the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin police estimates 2,500 people in attendance, illegal rainbow appears as an act of 🏳️🌈 God-ess
60 Pussy Riot members participated in a performance involving a large-scale installation and feminist smoke sculpture - an homage to our queen and mother Judy Chicago 💖🌈
People stayed through the rain and witnessed an illegal rainbow appearing during the performance - a rainbow is an xtremist symbol in Russia according to the latest law. The rainbow appeared as I sang "blizzard blizzard pray for us / God winked at me from the iconostasis / dear blizzard, serve us a prayer / I'm the last one here, I'll be the first one in heaven" ☁️🪽

In case you missed this due to being distracted by football: today the EU is voting on #ChatControl which ultimately means that they will try to install backdoors on all your devices.
"The fact that the EU interior ministers want to exempt police officers, soldiers, intelligence officers and even themselves from chat control scanning proves that they know exactly just how unreliable and dangerous the snooping algorithms are that they want to unleash on us citizens."

💭 I have a question: For the first time, we have made the decision to close mints after a certain period of time. The feedback we have received from collectors is: 'Why do you do that? Leave them open! I do not have the budget right now, but I would like to collect later when…'
I understand that closing mints creates a sense of urgency and provides an additional push for a collection. How about giving art and the artist time to grow, and allowing collectors time with the work?
On another note: We also have some more traditional art world collectors; it stresses them out to have to make quick decisions.
What are your thoughts?

It's my birthday and there is no way I am going to end the day without Reflection minting out.
So close, so every hour I am going to mint 10 for museums & institutions.
This guarantees a mint out by Midnight, but also gives everyone a final chance to mint their own.
