This raises an obvious question: How did Maine select him as the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate general election? It appears party loyalty has become a kind of political cyanide, and Maine is getting pissy drunk on it.
For more than a decade, many Democratic politicians have treated the English language as a malleable tool—stretching, inverting, or emptying words of consistent meaning depending on the level of outrage or advantage they seek. Over time, this erosion has left language hollow. When words no longer carry stable definitions, people become willing to overlook—or even embrace—figures who embody the very racism and extremism that language once helped society condemn.
